This is a thread anyone can come to to asks questions, and have someone answer them. I first saw this kind of thread at the MnB forums (great game), and I thought this place could use one like it too.

EDIT: The first few posts are about my questions on turning using mouse direction.

I'm not sure about mouse control but you can use the Keyboards right and left arrows to turn right and left!...

Thanks for the welcome. :)

See, the deal is that the arrows only turn the ship at about 70 mph, and the mouse pointer turns the ship MUCH quicker. Is there a way to turn the ship quicker with the keyboard?

The turn will be quicker if you upgrade your wings as they have thrusters built in but not sure if it would be faster then the mouse.:)

I never noticed the difference between the 2 in my case. Hmmmm, maybe you have your mouse pointer set at a fast moving pace on the Windows Desktop!....;)

Could sensitivity somehow have anything to do with that?

Yes, using left and right strafe to turn left or right is slow compared to the arrows!......;):P:P:P:P:P:cool:

Ok, new question. I'm starting to figure out how the game works, and was wanting to try some combat. What the best sector for a beginner fighter pilot? You know, one with reasonably easy enemies that don't bunch up in huge groups?

Also, whats the MOST hostile sector, just so I can keep away from it for now? :D

Olympus is a good system to start doing combat missions. There are Hostile systems all over the place and in between Moderate or Fair systems, you can check your system rep in the Navmap or get more detailed info in Inventory>News but more specifically the Conflict/Warzones in the North are pretty rough places for new people

---
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

 The problem with Olympus is that, while you're fighting the four enemy ships you've contracted to destroy, a whole lot of "relatives" are called to help (the enemy, not you). Keep in mind, as the swarm advances, that you still only need to kill four of them (and not necessarily the original four).

 Just about everbody suggests that a new pilot learn combat in Olympus. Which is fine unless you do it by accepting contracts. Then they usually become overwhelmed with the number of reinforcements ... not realizing the contract is completed once the agreed number of enemy ships have been dispatched. At which time, the Chat window will inform you that the mission has been accomplished.

You acquire military frames at any of the warzones at a carrier ship. Best place for néw pilots is Talison Warzone. Better military frames are earned through higher military rank by completing combat missions in war zones.

If you are in Sapphire go to a planet like Glacia. Dock at the station, Alt F9 Quicksave, and then Attack one Green ship. As long as you stay in Sapphire system, that one ship will always return as RED and follow you.
Good for drone practice, best done in single player!;)

If you just want to try out a mil frame you could start a new profile as a mil pilot :)
