Ship Upgrades

Hi all,

So after a few hours of mining out some materials and earning about 1.5 million credits, I decided to upgrade my ship. I had a Talon frame with the level 4 engine and level 3 wing frame I believe. It's max speed was 626.

I upgraded to a Raven frame with a level 6 engine and a level 4 wing frame and the max speed was 611.

What gives? How do I make my ship faster? Big time newbie question.

The bigger the frame the bigger the engine needed. The good news is the bigger the engine the faster your "main speed" will be. As to your 611 speed that can be increased by buying a bigger engine and also by using the speed multiplier with ids on. The Sim starts with it at x1 so your speed will be 611 but you can increase it by going to x2 through x5 so 5 times the speed.

I don't remember the default keys to increase and decrease that but you can go to the configuration set up to check that out.

I knew the Raven frame was a bit heavier, but I had no idea about the multiplier.

Try a level 7 engine and a wing 2 or wing 1. Experiment around and see what combination will give you the maximum speed if speed is what your after then downsize any thing else except wings/engines and frame. The Raven is less Agile and has more mass then the Talon. And a higher class engine is also heavier so it might balance its output out.....There is an old thread about the callculations of this ballance of Mass, Speed, Engines and Frame.
