question about fleet (mining)

Hello !

First off, i pretty much just bought this game, and i have to say, hot damn you die alot. 30 sec after i started i tryed pressing f2 while facing a planet... i should have taken the training sessions first. Anyway...

I have like a million questions, but i hope to answer them my self the hardt way, one topic i cant figure out though is this:
If i find a friendly pilot, and team up with him (fleet), how can i make him mine asteroids? The pilot i tried was from the miner corp. and when i pressed "mine asteroids" command he did use his beam out into nothing, but he didnt approach any asteroids. He pretty much just flew around. So question is this, how does the command work ? How to make him mine along with me ?

I never did fleet mining, but I believe you have to order him to form up with you and once he is formed up go mine an astroid get in mining range and then order the fleet to mine!.....

Welcome, minimekill!
I must admit I don't know if you can do fleet mining - I never tried it. I don't _think_ you can. But try what Maarschalk suggested; if that doesn't work, then it's probably not possible.
Other things you can do to improve your mining operations are getting a specialized mining beam (it only gathers a specific thing), to strafe the beam while you're mining, and to get a mining probe.

Allrighty then, was just curius. Ill try forming up, and litteraly push my wingman into a asteroid then

have yet to try out the mining probe or that specialized laser, will try give them a go (once i find out how to get them

)
