EvoMetrics help

Post by Viper »

Right, I'm pretty sure a similar topic has been posted a couple of times before but I'm really too lazy to look for it right now.

I've installed EvoMetrics and it's not working. Here's what I've done:
  • installed EvoMetrics
  • created a textfile called 'savedatasettings' in the same folder where the EM exe file is
  • made sure the EvoMetric program is looking in the right spot and changed the path in the program settings to the proper one
  • ran the game and EvoMetrics, no joy.
  • checked whether the game had created the 'savedata' file, which it didn't
  • manually created this file
  • tried again, nothing written to said file, EvoMetrics is not showing any data.
Note: tried both savedatasettings with and without the '.txt' extension. Both cases no result.

Any ideas? I'm at the end of my (admittedly, rather short) rope with it. Some help or some directions to a 'how-to-use guide for Ubern00bs' on EvoMetrics would be awesome.

And a question I was wondering about:
Does it make any difference whether you start EvoMetrics before starting the game or after?

Hi

my savedatasettings.txt looks like this:

2000
C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\

In the programme my settings are:

SaveData_FilePath: C:/sw3dg/EvochronMercenary/savedata.txt

and

SaveData_interval: 2000

When I first tried to get it working I had problems about the minute details!! For example the .txt file uses \\ in the file name and Evometrics uses / !

I rememeber also getting one letter wrong in one of the filepaths!! One thing I'm certain of though - when you find the issue you'll kick yourself - I did.

Are you using maplog as well? - I know it shouldn't cause a clash but it does share some of the settings:

MapLogs Game Output file should be savedata.txt
I update every 9 seconds - the time difference doesn't seem to cause a clash!
The Map Log File path is C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\maplogxx.sw where the xx is the pilot profile (which is one less than the slot number - pilot profiles start at 0!

Hope this helps :)

Hey Dave

I'm not using MapLog, so that couldn't be it. But:
From post: 122064, Topic: tid=8259, author=DaveK wrote:my savedatasettings.txt looks like this:

I am missing the complete highlighted part in my savedatasettings file. Don't know why, maybe I overlooked the instruction that told me to put it there. I'll change it asap, I bet that's it.
Also, I'll doublecheck the slash/backslash issue.

Thanks for being quick on the response, as always. :)

Hi Viper.

There is a manual for Evometrics here: http://evochron.junholt.se/files/MapGPS ... ctions.doc

What OS are you running? The / \\ may be used on different OS.
I use Win7 64bit and my program settings are:

SaveData_Filepath: C:/sw3dg/EvochronMercenary/savedata.txt
SaveData_Interval: (The figure just set the update rate. 5000=5sec)

Also make sure that you have the following files in your game folder:
savedata.txt (If it's not there, make one and leave it empty. The game write info to this file)
savedatasettings.txt (I have 5000 here)
\"Nothing is impossible, it only takes a bit longer!\"
\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

I was about to make the changes you guys suggested (which will probably solve the problem), when I hit another snag: the 'Settings' button in Evometrics is not responding. It clicks, but the settings pop-up window is not showing. I tried reinstalling EvoMetrics, no change.

Any ideas?...

Hi Viper.

That is because the path has been set wrong.

This is what you need to do:
1. Find the file "mercenary.settings" on your computer.

2. You can edit that file and it should contain this data:
SaveData_FilePath: /Applications/EvochronMercenary/savedata.txt
SaveData_Interval: 5000

This should solve all your problems.
\"Nothing is impossible, it only takes a bit longer!\"
\"We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction!\"

Yeah thought so, probably the slash/backslash issue.

Performing a search as we speak, but any idea where specifically this file should be?

Sorry, no Viper.

I got that from MapMan that created the program for me.
Reinstalling will not help as you noticed. The file remains.

If you can't find it, let me know and I'll ask him about it.

I recall Vice saying that EM only has folders and files in C:/sw3dg and C:/Program Files, and the file we are looking for is not in any of those, at least not that I or Windows can find.

I'm assuming it's an EM file you are referring to, right? Because if it's a EvoMetrics file, I could have a browse through ProgramData on the C drive.

Never mind, found it. For your interest, it's located in C:\\Users\\user\\AppData\\Roaming\\Titanium\\appdata\\se.starwraith.EvoMetrics\\
I'll try your suggestion, keep you posted.
