Quick question about player profiles

Hello all! I've ordered this game earlier tonight, and am currently waiting on my key to be delivered, and was wondering about the player profiles.

Am I allowed to switch between playing on Multiplayer and Singleplayer modes on the same profile? Like, carry over a the ship and loadout that I've been using for singleplayer into a multiplayer server, and then carry that same profile back to singleplayer when I'm done? The last good space sim I've played was Freelancer, and it had dedicated profiles for each server you played on. I've greatly enjoyed the demo, and can't wait for my key, this game is EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a space sim!
