Post by Koranis »

Hello,

I'd like to increase the fuel consumption by the fulcrum drive. As it is I feel it is too easy, fast and economic to jump from one point of a system to another. The fulcrum drives are also so cheap there is really no point to use conventional drives. Even landing on a planet becomes pointless when you know you will almost exhaust your tanks.

But above all it kills the feel of distance for me, thus the "reward of the voyage".

Is there any way to mod it?

thank you

 Maybe jump drives should be limited to a minimum of three sectors ... forcing pilots to use conventional engines. 'Cause you miss a lot when you bypass planetside exploration (and contracts) ... especially with warsign's new tree mod.

Depends on what ship you are using, and for what. I think that the balance is just right!

I believe the answer to that is 'no'. That is one of the things hard coded in the game engine to avoid the possibility of exploits in mp.

I thought the drive uses only a few units of fuel per jump? Do I have the numbers wrong?

 The fact it uses energy is due compensation. Especially in spy contracts where you must wait to use your cloak.

 Personally, I prefer to come at the capital ship head-on and deploy a shield array across its nose. That gives me plenty of time to remain close enough to scan the ship while remaining safe from hostile fire.

 That must be why the system never fails ... as long as you position the shield in the right place.
