Hi all. Well, I proceed down to the main city on New Hope but no new instructions are given. Took a few of the standard contracts and completed them too but no updated instructions. I'm probably missing something. Any advice is appreciated. Love the game!!! Just want to try the quest-line too!

Sure you got the main city? New Hope has 3 of them, the main one is the one in brackets. Once you get there, you should receive another communication, and one of the available contracts is clearly marked "IMG".

Yep, the main city. The "+" inside a green box. I may un-install then try again.Originally posted by Blackthorne

I uninstalled then re-installed. Still no quest update at New Hope.
From the posts here it seems that I'm alone with this problem. I suppose the ghost in the machine got me. If anyone else has seen this or has found the solution, please post. The game works fine except for the questline...

Open the nav console when you are there, then take a screenshot and post that. It will tell us exactly where you are and we can see if maybe you're are at the wrong location.

Salutations to all!
I also appear to be having a similar issue. I went down to the main city and saw nothing but standard contracts (clean an array, destroy some asteroids, race someone, etc.). As far as I can see there is nothing different in the mission texts that would identify any of them as different from any other contracts I could get anywhere else.
I even started a new pilot to see if maybe my first one was glitched somehow, but no dice.
Is the first 'quest' mission something different than standard ones you can get elsewhere? Where do you go for the second quest-line mission? Any help would be most appreciated!
On another note - I had never heard of the Evochron series before the 19th and it was just through dumb luck surfing around looking for something else that I came across this! As someone who will buy anything space-sim related, some of which are terrible, this was an awesome find! Money well spent!

A couple of players have been landing on the planet Sapphire looking for the IMG contract, rather than the planet New Hope. I suspect that may be what's happening here. Hold the mouse pointer over the planet icon on the nav map while you are in the same sector as the planet to see if it is Sapphire or New Hope.

While we're at the subject of the IMG questline...
The mission on Oasis seems to be slightly out of whack - I'm supposed to fly a 7-waypoint atmospheric patrol and kill 70(!) ships? (Oh wait, it's seemingly semi-randomized...I'm getting between 44 and 86 hostile targets I'm supposed to kill. While flying in the atmosphere. With my primary guns, and no way to properly get rid of incoming missiles).
That alone wouldn't be that bad (aaand we're *really* stretching the definition of "not too bad" here), but the game sometimes fails to register the kills and advance to the next waypoint. And unlike the warzones where "respawns" are quite common, I pretty much seem to be stuck once that happens.

Yeah, I think the 'coward' drive kicks in a little too much in some areas. Some may be leaving the area too easily or just not showing up properly as I'm pretty sure the kill count is solid. One work-around for now is you can often perform a circular search pattern around the waypoint (about 10-20K around it) to often find a retreating or out-of-range hostile nearby. Sometimes jumping back near the station will uncover a hostile (and getting another one is generally all that's needed).

*looks sheepish*
Yeah when I first got the IMG instructions to go to new hope I immediately landed, wondered why I didn't get the update, checked the map, found I was on Sapphire not New hope, smacked myself in the head for not remembering where New Hope was from EL, took off and went to New Hope.
Spoiler alert:
The IMG combat missions are way randomised, I found the Oasis one went from 6 hostiles at 2 waypoints to 84 hostiles at 7 waypoints. And I think I also encountered the waypoint not advancing once when I was pretty sure I had killed the right number of hostiles (ie number of hostiles for mission divided by number of waypoints, which was also the number of hostiles that appeared when I got within 10k of the waypoint and I am sure I killed all of them). I ended up doing that mission a bunch of times since I had not previously done much in air combat. My solution was to go high and draw the hostiles out of the atmosphere. It worked but it meant I had to kill a bunch of random hostiles that kept joining the party.
That was also my issue in the ace killing mission earlier in the quest, by the time I had killed half the guild fighters another 10 to 20 other random fighters had joined the party. It was almost enough to make me do contracts to raise my rep.

yes, 84 hostiles....
That was the other reason I got a good look how random the mission was. Load, check mission requirements, self destruct, check mission requirements, self destruct and so on. Some may regard that as cheating but I have no desire to complete 6 waypoints only to have the 73rd hostile blow me away.

Well I wish I could blame something other than my own ignorance, but alas I cannot. The issue was indeed my going to the wrong planet. Always great to introduce yourself to a new community while wearing a gigantic digital dunce cap.Originally posted by Vice

Not so much a dunce's hat - think of it as a "newbie" hat (New 2 Evochron Without Basic Info / Experience)
It took me ages to suss out where Rivoch is for the same reason - I thought that the Sapphire system was limited to eveything on the zoomed in view. I also thought that the Nav icon was some important Navy thing and so ignored it for a while until I realised that I was always jumping towards it!!

Gotta say though, your ego feels great after the Img contract in oasis where you kill 60-80 enemies. Especially if it only takes a couple of tries
i agree btw, luring them out of the atmosphere into space is the best method.
