Road Trip... to Sol
I have a little problem. I'm trying to travel to Sol, but with my Aries fighter, I'd run out of fuel looooooooooong before I got close with my class 5 fulcrum drive.
So I suppose my questions are:
Where Can I get a beefed up Fulcrum drive? One that will go even farther?
What Rig set up would be the best to send me to Sol? A flying gas tank?
And
Is there the possibility of a hidden gate somewhere?

You could install a gigantic fuel tank, but personally I'd use a deploy constructor for temporary refuel stops. It'd be slower but allow me to keep my assembly resources balanced for encounters along the way. There are also fuel converters, but then you need a tractor beam equipped as well - and I'm only aware of being able to make fuel from nebulae and star coronas, which could be scarce out there on the way to Sol.
There are definitely gates which don't show up on the navmap, I've been through one so far.

Currently I'm searching for the mantis drive. I'm going to need that for certain. Once I get that, I'll nab a deploy constructor thingy. What's the best system to travel from though (as in shortest distance)? Alpha Centauri, Sirius, or the the portal to riftspace and then to Sol?

Portal to RiftSpace would be the easy, faster one.
Going from Sirius or Alpha Centauri might take you to some nice places.
Good luck and have fun.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I would like to get the Mantis drive first though. Usually I never have more than an hour and a half at a time to blow.

Depart from the hunter, not the puppy. 1200 will do; bug drive best. Brace of stations arm the L-gate riftwise. Here there be wormies. Sol one step beyond.

Road Trip... to Sol
<Transmission Incoming- From "Joker"...>

<Subject: Sol Journey>
My Scouting Report as follows concerning the alien system known as Sol:
Well I finally made it. The journey there wasn't exciting. I twiddled my thumbs and bothered the other people on the server for entertainment. The shortest route is from Sirius, and on the MP server Remula 1, there are gas stations a long the route to speed you along. It is possible to cross with a small 400 tank, but the stations are a must have and so is a deploy constructor to make a fuel processor. I can't imagine anything more frustrating than being caught out somewhere between Sirius and Sol thumbing a ride or waving a jerry can. Not too many folks out that way.
Sol has a lot of great tech, but it's not like you couldn't find that same stuff in easier to reach places. If you try to go to earth, they tell you to go away and threaten to kill you for some inexplicable reason. Earth, btw, is now sporting a giant hoola-hoop station around it, very likely some maniacal anti-SOB/Merc machine. Or a peaceful space station of monolithic proportions. Take your pick. You can't land on it AFAIK, and I personally like the first option better.
I decided that Jupiter might be interesting to visit/land on, until I realized that the Typhoon/Hurricane/Winds of Hell that constantly are blowing around the planet's tiny rocky core are a little more than my IDS can handle. I suspect most other planets with thick atmospheres have the same problem. I turned around and left, but that's not to say that there isn't anything down there on the surface. I'm just not that curious or insane enough to try to get that close to the ground with the winds. Especially since it is REALLY hard to tell which way is up and down when your compass and pitch gauges are spinning wildly as you try to fly your ship in a straight direction.
Your starting reputation is already "Good," so money making options there are truncated, but there's the asteroid belt to mine and stations to trade at. I found myself mostly puttering around because I didn't have the cash to buy the expensive tech and since I fly a fighter as a combat pilot, the tools to go mine the belt.
Mostly because it's so isolated, Sol really isn't worth your time, unless you're just sightseeing. The nice thing though is that Sol is a thousand times easier to leave than to reach, because of wormhole near the Sun. It leads straight to Pearl. My only warning about this is that overshooting the wormhole can be very problematic for the very obvious fact that you can sail right into the surface of the sun. Most experts agree that this is not a very recommendable course of action. Save before attempting.

Nice flight log Joker!
There are worthwhile trade opportunities to be had down there... you need to buy a license at a station that has hi-end goodies. The discount you get when purchasing significantly increases your profit margin.

Yes. Landing on Earth is possible but very tricky and not easy. Only a handfull have succeeded. That hoop around earth is a security belt.....

It's not easy landing on earth.
I've been at it for a while. Haven't succeeded yet, but I will eventually.

In Legends I landed on Pluto just to say I did it. I made a few billion trading fulcrum torpedoes between saturn and sol station. I'd like to make the trek again someday.
BTW how do you use a deployed refuel station?
