Hat switches, Hat switches, Hat switches....

Post by deathMinder »

I have two hat switches, each on a different device.

I would love the one for my left hand to control view direction while the right might do shield enhancement or one of the other options (pan would be good too!)

Is this possible? Is there a way to assign more than one hat? My next option would be to use a joystick profiler to emulate keyboard strokes, but it seems an in-game solution would be more straight forward and reliable.

Thanks!

Control devices I'm familiar with that feature more than one HAT often use one as a 'traditional' HAT returning angle inputs with another that returns buttons inputs. So you can usually select a desired HAT mode in the Options menu for the traditional HAT, then bind the button inputs for the other HAT to the additional functions you'd like to use.

Well, in my case I'm using a couple Thrustmaster T.16000 sticks, each one with its own HAT. Being a lefty, this stick is reversible, and to my knowledge there just isn't a "lefty" throttle so I thought I'd try dual sticks (which works GREAT for this sim by the way, I put my directional axis on my main hand and the strafe / thruster on the off hand. WAY too much fun!)

I'm definitely not asking on just my own behalf, however, as I'm sure there are others out there that have a stick / throttle setup that have a multitude of HATs.

In any case, I've been planning on purchasing some third party emulator software, since my sticks are shipped without any. Do either of you have a recommendation?

thanks!

On my X52, the second HAT provides button inputs 15, 16, 17, and 18. HAT 3 (on the throttle) provides button inputs 19, 20, 21, and 22. All of which can be mapped to any normal button function in the Configure Controls menu.
