Guide?

Post by Iracus »

Hi, so I'm brand new to the game and the series so I was just wondering if there was any written guide that explains the game in detail from the different types of weapons, to trade goods, etc. Because I will see things in the game that I just have no idea what they do or mean. Such as when you highlight a weapon it will show Y: XXX C: XXX R: XXX and I want to know what those values mean. I can guess that r is range but not so much c (charge needed?) and y (damage?).

When you start the Sim after you choose your Pilot profile you can go to the training mode and you will see (down below) an option to close the Sim and view the instructions. You should find the info you need there. You may be able to print it out for future use.:)

There is sort of a guide on the main site (available here). I believe that there is a more detailed one in progress, but we are still waiting on it. That might have some of the details that the current guide is missing, though lots of people on here should be able to answer your questions to some degree.

As far as the weapon stats go, though:
Y = Yield, which rates the damage output of the weapon
C = Cyclic rate, how fast it fires
R = Range, how close a target has to be for the weapon to hit

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I already went though the training, what i'm looking for is what keiji posted, just a guide that just explains what everything is. Basicly a manual. And thanks for the link.

I didn't say "do the training" I said go to the training option. On that page you should see a sentence near the bottom about closing the Sim to read the instructions. Its not a guide or cheat sheet but it gives good information about the game. Good luck.

I read the ReadMe while mining. :)

It actually helped (in my case) to play a little, then go back and read up on things, play a little more, go back and read.

I've got about 40 hours in to the game now, and I'm still figuring some things out.

For instance, I didn't realize until just now after glancing over that link, that I could get more than one shield booster. Doh.
