Quest waypoints

When I accept a contract it says go to a waypoint, but doesn't say what the waypoint is. So I try simply jumping after I leave the station, it says the contract was broken, refuse to pay. What am I missing?

Also, sometime when I use the afterburner the speed never slows down even though the afterburner is turned off, forwad speed is turned off. changing from IDS to inertial mode makes no differance, it is like I am stuck in Inertial mode.

 Don't try to set your own waypoint. When you accept a contract, the waypoint is set for you. To check this, accept a contract, open your nav console (doing so will cause you to automatically undock from the station), and look for a waypoint marker. If you've zoomed all the way in (so that you only see your current sector), it'll be easier to spot the waypoint.

If it's a recovery or delivery contract, just go ahead and engage your jump drive ... it'll take you to the waypoint. If it's a combat contract, you might want to think about adjusting the jump point by left-clicking near the waypoint ... practice will tell you how far away to make the adjustment.

Sounds like a possible bug then, since I don't set any waypoints. I simply undock and jump then get the message about refused payment.

Possibly related to a different bug I think I have discovered:
If I launch with the NAV window open I sometimes see my destination waypoint randomly move to another location on the NAV map. sometimes it will do this several times in a row making it very difficult to get anywhere I need to go. I have discoverd that holding down the 'alt' key while pressing the launch button causes this to happen a lot more often. I used to always press the 'alt' key so I could move the mouse to open the NAV map, then I would forget to release the 'alt' key when I chose a new destination.

I have purchsed EM and I am using version 1.088.

 The "moving waypoint" might be due to zooming in or out on the nav map ... your computer taking a fraction of a second to move the icon. As for holding down the "Alt" key while jumping ... that's the kind of thing I wouldn't do.

Just take the contract, move out of the station in any direction, then press F2, nothing else..
then see what happens. Should automatically take you to the site.
I doubt there is any "bug"!

Its not zooming, since the waypoint can be near a planet and I'll end up nowhere near the planet. Sometimes it will send me in a completly oppisite direction then where I was tryning to go. I installed 1.098 and had the issue on the first contract. I accept the contract, undock hit the launch button then get the payment refused message. This doesn't happen everytime, although it hasn't happen yet by simply pressing F2 instead of going to the NAV map first.
Thanks for your time.

:o I don't know. Most contract waypoints are on the horizon so I doubt your problem has anything to do with Y-axis displacement. You might check the Rear view anyway, just in case.

:o Oik ... and Alt+F2 will engage your jump drive and send you in the direction you're pointed ... jumping the maximum range of your drive! (Usually far outside the sector.)
