New to the game. Few days now. Started as a miner (wasn't sure which was best). Burned through about 8 or 9 of the IMG quests. They are about to send me to Cerulean but it is starting to get harder for sure. Onyx was not friendly and it didn't turn out well....lol.

So far it has gotten great. Definitely started slow. Bit of a learning curve. I just finished my first combat mission and that took some time but I am definitely getting the hang of it. This is not Decent Freespace combat. :)

Anyway. I bought a mirage, have level 3 shields, a level 6 engine (clan r-something) and trying to up my ship and make it serviceable. Still trying to figure out how to get military ships. Assembly is at zero and I have a small amount of cash left in the bank. Enough for fuel and what not.

Plan to venture into Multi-play soon. Felt intimidated to be honest and wasn't sure what to expect.

Wanted to thank the board for being so inviting to others and at least painting a less intimidating picture of MP. I think I might test the water sooner rather than later.

Curious, but have I started off okay? I feel like I am not too invested that if I had to start over on a better path I could live with it. Any suggestions?

Hello Puffs.

Welcome to a great sim and forum. If you haven't read this I suggest you do.
http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegen ... de.htm#202 (It's for Legends but helps anyway)
http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmerce ... iverse.htm

You are doing just fine. Military ships can be obtained in carriers. They are found in warzones.
(Sierra, Talison, Cerulian and one outside Pearl.)

If you need to practice combat I suggest Olympus Prime to start with. The badies are not to good there.

I also suggest joining MP. You can continue your quest/exploration there. Everybody is very helpful
and also joins you on missions if you like.

To gain cash I suggest mining for Platinum or figure out a traderoute.

Hope this helps a bit. See ya out there.:D

Welcome aboard, Sir Puffs. Your uniform is under the mattress and your medal is hanging in the fridge. The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy is temporarily out of print due to a space anomaly that made next week become this week, so you'll recieve your towel yesterday. Please close any smug doors behind you and don't thank them. Smoking is not allowed inside the cockpit or during battle. Toilets aboard are in short supply, so please have consideration for other pilots, especially those who have recently engaged the enemy and wear brown trousers. Should you distinguish yourself in combat feel free to brag and ignore the other pilots leaving the room. The VC (Vice's Choker) medal is up for grabs by any pilot who deems himself brave enough to master the mirrors cleaning quest. If you are of a nervous disposition I suggest you stick to mining in the Sol sector. Fank yew for your cooperation.

Hello Puffs, Military ships upgrade by Military rank so do missions in a war zone (with any type ship) to gain rank and get better ships. Military ships do NOT support Crew or Cargo so beware. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you out there sometime.:)

ALSO, Welcome to all the pilots I have missed. Will try to catch up soon.:)

Hey there Puffs, welcome to Evochron!

Sounds like you're doing just fine. Once you find a sweet money-making spot you'll be able to upgrade your ship and equipment pretty fast. Multi-play is great fun, with helpful players and rarely intimidating... if you do get harassed most certainly other pilots will come to your aid! I recommend Remula 1 server for MP.

Well thanks all.
I jumped into MP last night. MP makes the game a lot better. Thanks for the advice and the push.

Been playing on Remula One. Already gotten some help and so far it is a blast.

Can't wait to dig around.

Btw, out of curiosity but does player feedback typically get into the game or does the feedback usually make it into the next series? There is so much about this game that reminds me of a MUD I used to play. A few simple concepts would likely enhance clan play without upsetting the balance too much.

Of course, it is too early to comment about anything as I have a lot of playing and learning to do, but the potential...oh man...

BA clan look forward to welcoming you in MP soon, Puffs.

Yes player comments do get incorporated in the upgrades, but obviously not every one. Vice is The Man and occassionally you may see him in MP.

Most of all, enjoy yourself, we all do.

"I saw you again online in MP Puffs....How was your experience in MP?"

I took a screen shot of our fearless leader Vice when you were on....check it out in the screenshot thread. ;)

Hey there Puffs.

That was a great shoot 'em up session tonight with you as gunner! Sorry I couldn't stay connected... there was definitely some problems happening with my x52 which was interfering with the game. Look forward to another session once I've sorted the problem!

Presumably that 'welcome' will be in the form of a missile? ;)

Hi Puffs, do not let a bunch of Bad, Bad, very Bad Aliens intimidate you, there welcome is pretty mild. Look out for Romulan though.....he kills noobs on sight and does not talk......:P:P:P:P:P

Presumably he must think that we can't shoot back....

Playing with the people I have met so far has been a blast. I do love being a gunner so if you ever need help with that, please feel free to ask.

I will say so far the game hasn't been too complicated control wise. A lot of it is just learning the lore, the style, the design and figuring out what everything does.

Like, i spent the other day in an asteroid in Pearl and found something inside (energy ball) but I have no idea what to do with it. I assume it is for conversion into something at some point and I probably just don't have the right tool for the job.

Also, I find the spying missions (without stealth) particularly hard, and I am having issues deploying things sometimes. It seems to work one minute, and then not work the next. Again, all noob stuff that will work itself out soon enough.

The Energy ball you have to take to a receiver pod and you get some units of fuel upon delivery, but you have to find the receiver pod first....In legends at least that is what it did and was used to play the game called capture the flag in MP(Energy ball). Or you can make your own game rules to play in Multiplay....;)

Yeah, it's the same, the receiver unit is in the same roid, in a different part. Quite pretty.

 When deploying, the green sphere is your aim point ... especially if you're deploying a mining drone. It might seem like hit-or-miss if you don't realize that the sphere must cover the area you're attempting to mine.
