spoiler alert !
Okay, I just took out another capital ship today (my fourth) after a grueling 10 minute firefight when some navy ships finally showed up to help out. But I'm getting burned out. I'm wondering if there are any unique weapons hidden out there that I could start looking for. Watching a combat play through, I could swear the player had something like a gatling laser that was ripping hostiles apart.

Hello,
Everyone has their own techniques.
With most ships you need to change weapons for one kill.
First take out the shields do this with strafing runs, when they are down switch weapons and go for target hits, weapons disabled on the other ship means you have time to play with.

Bigger sword, yes.
Have you been around the weapons lab already ?
If not, give it a try. The weapons you build are way more efficient than those you buy. If you max out the fusion particle canon and build it, it will give you an idea. Then comes the tricky part of optimizing your particle vs beam weapons to have something that hits hard but that doesn't drain down all your energy in 5 seconds.
This is step one to ripping hostiles apart (and surviving a pvp). Try to make a combination that can fire both weapons simultaneously and continuously at least 10 full seconds at setting 0 shields/0 weapons
As for taking down capital ships, there are weak points, places you can sit in without taking lethal damage while hammering the cap ship, takes less than a minute to take them down, provided you don't get killed in the approach or mess up during that minute ...
Fighting a bunch of hostiles alone or with flight mates are two different things imho.
If there is a pack of hostiles mixed up with your mates dogfighting all over the place, then you can join the fun and cover your teammates, if you do the inertial pass technique, by your second pass you'll just have to pick up the loot if your teammates know what they are doing, or you won't cover them if they need it. So you mainly do IDS with sharp turns and if you got a proper gun combo you do a massacre ...
On the opposite, when fighting alone, jumping in the middle of the pack will probably get you killed straight away, there the inertial strafe pass technique is preferred, unless you are an ace.
Hope this helps.

Have a look on page 2 I made a video of how to kill a Cpt vonari ship. That might help. Good luck!

Warning dont touch one of the 4 spike in front of the ship because your ship will explode straight away;)

The problem with that is that from what I saw when experimenting with Weapon Lab beam and cannon weapons on individual Vonari ships using a Sensor deploy is that taking the shields down in passes is only partially helpful because it doesn't take all that long for their shields to regenerate from 0 back to full. You've got to do some damage to the ship while the shields are down or weak so the shields can't regenerate as fast and he can't fire back and you as well and he can't hightail it away. From post: 178613, Topic: tid=11981, author=CS-ACI- wrote:Hello,

Beta_ver's advice about Weapons lab is spot on. You need a high powered long range cannon and a suitable laser so, as he said, you get decent firing time to take down a ship as fast as possible.
I prefer, as much as possible, to get on a target and fire until he's dead. You can't always do that but making numerous passes to take them down is just too time consuming and a waste. If there are more than one hostile on you then you have to whatever means work at the time.
If there are more than 2 attacking me and I'm out of missiles then I sometimes make them chase me in reverse and shange my Inertial speed until they close on me within range and shoot them one at a time. That's saved my bacon a few times when I had some hull damage.

Thanks, guys. I'll give the lab a try. Up until now, I try to fly under the engines of the capitol ship with full shields up and let loose a volley of leech missiles and then exodus missiles. It's tough, though, when hostile reinforcements pop in unless navy ships do the same. My phantom cannon is okay, but I'm sure I could do much better. So, I'm off to the lab!

Wow! Made myself a new weapon in the lab and it is vastly superior to my phantom cannon. Great dps and excellent range while using little energy. Thanks again, guys.
