Newcomer to EM Multiplayer

Greetings, fellow Evoverse pilots!

I've been playing this game quite a lot here recently, and having finally climbed the the cliff that is the learning curve in this brilliant game, I decided to hop on an MP server. I chose Starport 6, for now, as it seems to be rather friendly. Tips are very much welcome, but not at all necessary. Mostly just wanted to introduce myself so that I don't randomly sneak up on the lot o' ya

I'm a Graphics Designer and I also produce music on the side, so if anyone here needs something in those forms, don't hesitate to ask. I'm always looking for someway to test my creativity and would love to create a signature or theme song for one of you.

In any case, if any of you have a community of active players going and are open to newcomers, I'd love to join in. I look forward to joining in on this forum and flying with you all in the grand Evoverse.

Thank you all for the replies! Really makes a guy feel welcome.

I did end up asking around a bit on the Starport 6 server and ended up flying all the way to atlas on a quick exploration jaunt with some new friends I'd made. So thanks for the great advice, Busch!

Also, Austin, I believe I've seen you on once or twice already, so it's nice to see you're active on the forum.

I've checked out the modding section of the forum and came to the saddening realization that there just isn't enough modelling work done for EM. I guess I'll have to take up that mantle then and hopefully get some stuff out there. We'll see.

That would be great ... but you might want to wait for the expansion to go gold. Vice usually manages to improve his ships ... both in design and textures. What worked in Legends doesn't always work so well in Mercenary and what works now might not work with the expansion.

I'm really looking forward to the expansion. I've heard something like terrain walkers and such being added. More time I'll spend in this already mind-mulchingly expansive game.

I've been psychotically stalking Vice's development log since December. I'm practically shaking with anticipation to see all this awesome new content he's been talking about...

The more and more I read up on it, the more it seems I may lose even *more* hours in this game with the developer that seems to improve it more and more without fail. That's a whole lot of "more"!

One question, though, if anyone knows. Is it going to be a direct expansion to Mercenary, or an expansion to the series itself? And, as such, will I be at all able to transfer my saves from one game to the other if it is, indeed, a separate game?

According to Vice, your current pilot profiles will work with the expansion. But the "conversion factor" requires you to play one version at a time.

I might be bordering on starting a new thread here, but that's something I'd like to know as well. Will this expansion be sold as a seperate, standalone game? Or will it merely be an expansion of content and an improvement on the existing Mercenaries game?

It will work either way. It installs over your
EM as an update, or as a new install if
you haven't got EM.

I hate to ask yet another question that I should be able to answer on my own, but will the expansion be free, or will it require purchasing? I couldn't actually find the answer to that, much to my dismay.

Vice hasn't said if it's free or what price
it will be yet.

Thanks for the info, SeeJay. Here's hoping that it's free, or at least affordable. Because, while I very much want to support this game (and have with my purchase of it), I simply can't afford much in terms of games at this point.

I have also jumped onto a couple of MP servers. A couple of questions I have.

I only get 5 servers come up every time. Are there servers available by specific IP address that the general public can log on to?

The other thing is some servers when full of pilots simply display a message that the IP address may be wrong or its full (most the time I get on after a few tries); and one allows me to load or launch then when I get to "entering Universe", I get crashed to desktop.
But, that server I can get on after a few tries nearly every time I'm persistent. I was wondering if the second server (Starport 6 ) typically acts like that? Like to OP, its one of my favorite.

When you get that message, try right-clicking over the server name to see how many players are already logged in.
