Bother with single player?

Hello all!

Just starting this game and loving it! It's filling that void that was left when I stopped playing Freelancer mods years ago. My question is, should I even bother building my character up in single player or should I just jump into multiplayer? I know certain things should be learned in single player or are easier in sp, but I really like the human interaction in multiplayer and will end up here anyway.

So, what say you?

Also, what's the best server to play on (I know there may be a bit of bias here, but I thought I'd ask)? I hear Starport 6 is pretty stable.

Don't bother with singleplayer. It's just like multiplayer except you lack the bonus of chatting with funny, helpful Evochron fans!

In terms of servers, Galactica 1 and Starport 6 are the most popular (I play on Galactica 1). But as long as you don't have a clan, there's nothing to stop you from hopping onto whichever has the highest population at any given time. If you are interested in joining a clan, check out the Clan/Roleplay section of the forum, there are a lot of interesting groups to join, such as the heroic Freedom Fighters, the glorious Legion of the Lance, the knowledgeable Guild of Independent Merchants, and the sinister Klone. All are a blast to play with and have spawned many interesting relationships.

Hello inDissonance, find a server that you like and as stated MP is more fun than SP. I will play in SP at times as then I can do things that get me killed over and over again without other pilots wondering (lol) if I'm OK, but thats just me. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in Multi-Player sometime.

Hey inDissonance! Welcome aboard! As your pilot stats and profile transfer seamlessly between SP and MP modes, it's pretty much a coin toss. Although, MP-space on any of the game-servers can be a real blast, literally! Lots of helpful folks around in MP. Lots of assistance if you like. No harm at all in asking. Hope to see yaz out dere!

The only thing I've found single player is good for is the race mission in the IMG quest. That's the only reason I would play in SP. As for which server is the best, I of course, would like to say Starport 6, but then I am biased. It's my server after all:D. As for best, I would say whichever has the best ping. Starport 6 is centrally located in the USA. Galactica 1 is in the UK. Crest of Stars is in Arizona USA I believe. Have noe idea about the others. Except for the obvious German server, of course.
