Gas Giants

Post by Austin »

I've seen it verified, on the forums, that it is possible to land on the core of some gas giants. I have been experiementing, with no luck. Could some knowledgable pilot possibly u2u me one gas giant where a landing is confirmed. It really sucks trying to land, when your not even sure if it is possible on the planet you've chosen... :P Thx

 IIRC, Venus is one place where you can land.

Though in the case of Venus, there's actually two planets situated at the same location; one rock, and one gas (to simulate the thick atmosphere).

It's the rock planet you are landing on.
No other gas planets have the same rocky core as Venus.

 Probably not true. It might be something to add to SeeJay's list of Spoilers.

:o Edit: Further research has indicated that Venus might actually be the only gas giant with a solid core. If such is the case, maybe the Expansion Pack will also expand the number of gas planets with a surface suitable for landing ... maybe even with a city or two.

:o Even enter the center of a gas giant ... the kind without a solid core? Just hover there ... forever? And never get crushed by gravitational forces?

Venus is not a gas giant. Not in evochron, not in real life.
The atmosphere used is just the same as a gas giant, to simulate dense atmosphere.

Floating cities in gas giants and on Venus would be pretty rad.
