Military frames really that much better?

Post by Alaric »

So I ground it out to get to commander. 100 some odd missions later I felt somewhat elated when I cruised to a carrier to get a brand spankin new milly frame.....gotta say Im somewhat disappointed and am hoping I am missing something.

I ran a Starmaster. Dope ship all around and I could do a 5 waypoint mission in aboot 20 mins.

I bought the most expensive milly frame...was very disappointed I couldnt change the wing type but thats not so important.

The only discernible difference I can see is that the milly frame seems to offer a whole lot less...no cargo, no crew, no wings....so what am I missing? Besides the prestige factor what was the point of grinding all those missions? Im just hoping Im missing something as I went thru a battle with the new ship and noticed no difference.

Now pls don't think Im complaining. Im not, love this bloody game, just wanna understand it a bit better.

Here are the stats for all the frames.
http://www.junholt.se/evoschool/main/evoships.htm

The military frames are designed for combat, not trading (even if you can do pretty good with MIL).
The ships are boosted to compensate for the lack of a crew.
They genarally takes more beating as well and are more agile. Try a Evoch!;)

A CIV frame can be a very good fighter to and a good pilot could take out a MIL ship
with a good pilot, but I think the MIL frame has a little edge over CIV regarding combat.

I do think that I would beat myself in a MIL frame if I was fighting MIL vs CIV.
(That sounds a bit weird but I do think you get the point LOL!)

Some pilots are using CIV frames for all purposes and are great fighters in it, so it's more up
to how you fight and set up your ship that will determine whats best for you.

Hope this helps a bit.

The most expensive ship is not the best ship amigo, check what every frame offers and buy the one you like depending on what you wanna do with it.

Im starting to think this good sir :) I may go for the ship with the best agility methinks. Just to switch it up. It takes a while to turn that big pig of a starmaster.

Thanks as always SeeJay for your great insight. Its hard to get out of that bigger is better mentality thats for sure. One thing I should have mentioned is that I think the Mil ships are nicer. Damn those are pretty ships lol. They remind me of some of the planes from the 80s GI Joe.

Unrelated...I may delve into multiplayer as I find the computer opponents not so hard anymore, all they got is numbers.

Yup, agility is niiiiice.....you gotta have balls to ride an agility frame (they lack on armor).....firestart is at 90, i used this beauty for some time, now i dropped my agility to 70 for some more armor.
Try out some frames, find what fits you best and i hope to see you out there amigo!;)

I tried this and heard the same rumor but was never able to do this by swapping out crew and cargo for more equipment slots.
Unless some one post a screen shot of a civi ship with 8 equipments slots I will not believe this is possible or try it for your self and tell us about it how you did it if you mange to do this ofcourse!....;):P:cool:

The "lowest" civ ship frame I've found, to be able to morph the eqpt slots up to 8, is the light-heavyweight Sentinel frame. If you work it right, you'll also pick up 1/25-unit CM pod to go with 6 missile slots. Either the Shadow or the Wraith mil frames are the "lowest" mil frames that already have 8 eqpt slots installed. And, am not sure which of these frames will have 8 missile slots, to accommodate the Excalibur system, or the missile suite of your choice. :)
