Nav Quad Map in Mercenary

Post by 49rTbird »

I use a modified Quad map shown below and the MP Clan % seemed a little off in areas so I loaded the Original Map to compare.

I noticed that the Original Map seems to be even farther off as far as lining up the Clan % with the appropriate systems that the Modding one. Any plans on updating the Original?

 The territories aren't necessarily aligned with the star systems. In fact, there's a two-planet star system north of Sanctuary which is part of the same IM territory.

As Marvin points out, the solar systems in various systems aren't necessarily in the middle of the regional indicators or the territory borders. Some systems can be near the edge of a border while others close to the middle.

True on both statements. I suppose I was looking for a :P more orderly Universe. :o, :P:D:D:P

On further investigation, the map I use is based on main Jump gates in the systems. Oh well, can't have it all.

 I was thinking of redesigning the territory tag, making it a box and adjusting the size ... then finding a server with most of the territory already claimed. Just to get an idea of the actual border lines ... how they mesh up. Hmmmm....

Marv, do you mean the Clan % indicators? If so I think it would be nice to be able to do that.:)

Okay, I created a couple custom territory tags ... but the background was coming out opaque ... so that the tags were overlapping. The only way 'round this problem was to shrink each tag. This created a new problem: evidently, the default tags are anchored to a specific point on the quadrant map. Ergo, by shrinking the whole graphic, I get a shift.
  • On the regular size map, the shift looks like this:

  • And, on the zoomed-in quadrant map, the shift looks like this:

As you can see, the boxes are to the left of where they should be.

:o Btw, I had to draw the boxes at the very edge of the graphic. Otherwise the background, when extended beyond the box (so that the graphic might be big enough to be properly anchored), completely covered one or more of the adjoining boxes.
