Little confused on waypoints/contracts

Post by FarscapeFanBoy »

I seem to remember waypoints being purple, but after many hours of failing to find my target destinations I realized that the waypoint was yellow like the nav marker (or maybe the nav marker overlapped it and turned it yellow). That's one point of confusion.

The 2nd one is I took the contract to deliver a satellite to "a" ship (contract didn't name the ship). I finally find the ship, pull into the green boxes, matched the speed and waited to see something happen. Nothing did, so I tried targeting the ship and hit F4 to trade and it rejected me. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Well when you accept contract you dont have to put any nav marks on your navmap you just press F2 or let the autopilot do the work, and no waypoints are yellow :)

What comes to greenbox contract :D:D you must open your inventory where you right click on your cargo and boom contract completed... It never says the name of the ship.. just accept F2 and you are there go to green box match speed while inside open inventory right click on the cargo and contract completed

Hopefully this helped see you in MP!!

Hi and welcome.

Easiest way to deliver something is to fly through the green box
and Jettison cargo (J). That works if it's in cargo bay 1 (top one).
If not, do as FinFoxx said. ;)

I only have 1 cargo bay so it always works for me.

When you take a delivery mission, the game puts the item in one of your cargo bays. To deliver it when you are in the box, hit f3 and click on the item to eject it which is the same as delivering it. I use the f3 screen as it you just use eject cargo you lose ALL your cargo :(. Way points should be yellow.:)

Why thank you! But I'm onto your evil plot, Finfoxx, to get me fried as I try to warp through the planetary atmosphere way too fast and therefore setting my expensive astronaut pants on fire! :P

All kidding aside, what is that purple marker out in space because that sure isn't the waypoint as it isn't anywhere near my contract destinations?

I didnt fully understand your "kidding" aside rofl but its all good it might be because ive had couple Ales lol

Well the purple marker might be THE GAte lol taking you into other quadrant, fastly, efficiently... But it also might be hidden container if its shown in your 3D "GPS" or map or w/e it is. But in navmap it should be gate!

 Check that you're in the correct sector (SX, SY and SZ). Then check that you've entered the proper coordinates into Destination X, Y and Z windows. Then check to make sure the time hasn't run out.

I had confirmed all those. Same goes for missions to find lost items like satellites. Literally searched for half an hour around the waypoints and never found them. I'm Lost in Space! LOL

Farscape - the way point markers for all contracts and missions will always be yellow, unless they're green. If they're green, that means you've set another way-point, somewhere other than the contract/mission location, and that one will be yellow. Which is okay, as long as the self-set way-point is not too far away from the contract/mission-set way-point. Still use this feature, especially in the CZ/WZ's to avoid being dropped in on top of the Vonari cap ship. In every system, except for Talison CZ/Command Alpha, one tip is to turn 180 degrees to the contract/mission-set way-point, toggle F2, and watch your center MFD radar scope for the pink spot that will be the crate/rescue pod/etc. You should be in the ball-park for location and distances. Make sure you go the distance to the actual contract/mission way-point marker, as sometimes the radar MFD may show two pink dots. (1 is your target, the other may be a jump-gate or another "feature") Cargo/stellite deliveries can be managed in the same way. Although, for delivery contracts, I usually turn 90 or 270 degrees to the way-point marker and toggle F2. (0 degrees gives a bow-on insertion, 180 degrees gives an aft-on approach, depending upon the heading of the target cap ship) This will usually insert my ship abeam of the target cap ship, either starboard or port side. Nice wide aspect on the target ship and the little green box underneath. And, all this just takes practise. ;)

A purple blip/tadpole on your radar is always an unknown or hidden object/container, Gate or Wormhole!.....;)

 Easiest method of completing "lost item" contracts:
  • Engage inertial.
  • Engage your jump drive (without using the Alt key).
  • Upon exiting hyperspace, maintain heading and speed.
  • Watch your radar for a purple blip.
  • When you see the blip, disengage inertial, throttle up and head for the blip.
Sometimes it's so dark, you never see the item until you're right on top of it ... so get used to using the radar to home in on objects.

That's a lot of good tips. Thanks, guys. I'm using the SP campaign to prepare me for mp, of course. But I don't want to miss anything sp has to offer either.

Funny thing happened. I got bored looking for an unknown object so I decided to fire at some of the big ships. Female captain declared I had made the mistake of picking the wrong ship to mess with. So I blew her ship out of existence with my beginner ship LOL

 The term "enemy ace" is, as Maars would tell you, a relative one.
