Hi ppl, just got this game and gotta say it seems to be a big improvement over the last one I played. Love the planet landings and the massive free form universe.
I'm a bit of a technical player when it comes to sims. This game caters to my inner geek with the nav setup, the complexity of the control systems and the awesome features.
Keeping this in mind, I would love to see more of this put into the game. Obviously it still needs some kind of learning curve, but why not tech it out even more? Some less obvious ideas than cockpit overhauls etc
I have played for a fair while and got to Andromeda. I kind of expected something a bit more alien/unusual. Crazy changes in physics or some new elements.
Ie. More elements/trade items. Put into a scale of rarity like star control 2. So we have common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare, unique. Making rare items harder to find/mine and worth more. Common would be gold, metal, silver etc. Rare could be unobtainium, elerium etc.... Less emphasis on trading fulcrum torpedoes/tech to easily make millions. Diversity.
Planet, or mass scanning so we can scan the makeup of asteroids/planets etc This would include types of stars, planets and what elements can be mined etc Diversity. Ie water world, ice planet, desert planet.
Info on technology and why it works the way it does. Item descriptions.
More galactic features. Example. Black holes with event horizons you get sucked into. Moving comets with tails. Highly dense Neutron stars like pulsars. Binary systems. Supernovas or remnant systems. White holes? Diversity.
Drive failures, weapon failures, shield failures, life support failures.
ie . .01 percent chance of drive failure while warping increased by wear and tear and damage to systems. Failure could result in a jump in the wrong direction or total breakdown of the system. Not everything works 100% and everything degrades, much like any number of trek episodes.
I think the programmer has done an absolutely amazing job and that more than anything else, this has brought me back to a time when shaded polygons shooting lines at commander Jameson to the music of space odyssey, was an absolute blast.
