Crewmembers?

Post by Ora »

So every time I get a new crewmember, they leave me within an hour. I've had crewmembers with loyalty ratings from 15 to 90, and every time the same thing. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong? I'm making profits, and quite a bit at that, and I increase their pay well-beyond fair. Half the time they leave before they even pick up their first paycheck. Are crewmembers this broken for anyone else, or am I just doing something horribly wrong? What makes crewmembers want to stay?

The crew member's fees go up as they gain experience and you gain rank.

You can change the + or - amount from 50 to 500 by holding alt, and I like to set my pay 500 more so I do not have to worry about pay increases (even when I have one with a loyalty of 100%).

I tend to look for crew with a high loyalty, even if they do not have a high experience because they will gain that as I play. Once the loyalty reaches 100% all you need to do is keep his pay out of the red and he will say, I just pay more so I do not have to check as often.

New crew will leave, but it does not take more than about 1-3 tries, or less, until I find a crew member that stays.

Choose loyality over skill, and overpay them by at least 500 credits. Even so a few will leave, but most will stay.

Crewmembers?

In my experience the crew members are quite erratic at anything less than 100 loyalty.

So below 100 loyalty, overpay them 500-1000 to minimise the chances they will leave.

Following that just repeatedly do contracts until they reach 100 loyalty at which point you can pay them 150-300 over and they don't seem to leave.

Make a habit of checking your crew management console whenever you enter a station to check that you are still paying them enough over the fair amount. The fair amount increases as you earn money and the crew want a bigger cut, so big spurts in earning without checking their pay rates can reduce their loyalty and make them leave.
