My science officer will report an object, give a heading...how long do I generally have to fly till I meet up with it?

as far as i know every single obtainable object in space appears as a purple blip in your 3D radar system the middle

hopefully this helps a bit

If your science officer reports an object at a given heading and pitch when you come out of a jump the actual heading and pitch will change because of your movement till you come to a stop so the distance traveled from the jump exit point till you come to a complete stop will change the heading and pitch angles from what the science officer reported. The best way to locate a reported object at pitch and heading while exiting a jump is by triangulation.

1. Note the first heading and pitch, come to a complete halt turn to given heading and pitch make a mental picture in relation to other objects in the sector like Planets, Stations Astroids, Planet rings etc.....in the direction your ships nose is pointing at. Then jump out of the sector and back into the sector at a different location.

2. Note the second heading and pitch given and follow the rest of the instructions in #1. Now your ship nose should be pointing to a similar location as step #1 in relation to the other objects in the system. Fly to the aproximate intersection of your 2 mental picture vectors in the direction your ship was pointing till you see a purple tadpole appear on your Radar and fly towards the purple blip.

You might need to repeat the steps several times to get a clearer picture of the excact location!.....;)

 Try deploying a sensor array near where you "best guess" (WAG) the location of any crate ... the object will show up as a purple blip on the Nav map (zoom in all the way) if it's within the sensor sphere.

That's more like a work around. A non retarded science officer should be able to give you coordinates!

Oh hey, there's some containers in space!

WHere?

idk, figure it out.

Your fired!

Or you can download my ContainerFinder (Excel)

It will get you to it in 2 jumps.;)
