Nevermind, I figured it out after typing a lengthy explanation. LOL
But I do have a navigation question. After I close the inventory box my ship wants to run into all the buildings I'm facing. I am also at a loss what the IDS Throttle scale does, especially in regard to landing.
Also, I understand what a way point is, but what is the nav marker for? Also, I can't seem to target stations or planets so I can navigate to them using autopilot. R and T don't do anything except target ships (I think) so how do I select them? And how to I view the coordinates for the planet or station I'm looking at?
Thanks.

If the ship is stopped it will just settle where it is, but it needs to be stopped.
For landing I use Ids along with the numbers to easily reach a fast but safe speed for landing on planets.
The navigation marker shows the point selected on the map, it is used for jumping, but also to head toward something that you otherwise can't see in the cockpit.
Right click on the stations to set the right nav point, them make sure your ship is facing the right way before you jump, to fly right in and dock.
Pitch at 0 for stations, heading at 0 or 180 for gates, 180 for carriers

Just typed an update then saw your post. thanks for the help. Can I right click on the station, select it then view its coordinates so I can log it? Is there a shortcut way to set pitch to 0 or 180? And please clarify the use of IDS throttle scale.
One more thing, how can I set a nav marker on the planet surface landing zone so I can auto pilot in? So many questions and my cheesy brain is melting.

If you right click the station/gate/carrier the proper coordinates should auto-enter into the manual entry boxes your navmap. All you have to do is select add to log in your navmap and give the point a name the press enter.
As far as I'm aware the is no Auto-level control.
It's not entirely accurate to explain it this way but it's the best I can do -
IDS scale 1x uses 20% of your engine's max potential when throttle is set to 100%
IDS scale 5x uses 100% of your engine's potential when throttle is set to 100%
The maximum safe speed in atmosphere is just below 1500kps. You can set your throttle multiplier to a speed close to 1500kps and just leave the throttle wide open without fear of going to fast or too slow.
To set a landing zone to say a city on the southern hemispere of the planet - Set an outside the atmosphere Nav point ABOVE the area where you want to make your entry at. Left click on the city. Switch the map to 'Rear View'. Left click on the city again. This should set your destination fairly close to the actual city area .
If done right you should be able to travel nearly straight down to the area. Once you get close enough the landing vector boxes should guide you the rest of the way. There are no right click auto entries for cities.
Also Auto pilot into or out of atmosphere is not reccomended. Especially out of. If your next destination is too far away you will perform an 'in atmosphere' jump leaving you to become quite crispy!

I actually did eat some green potatoes last night. I thought, what the heck, I'll just peel them. First bite my throat immediately became inflamed. Those definitely weren't cudly potatoes!
Well, this game helped me discover that my G700 mouse has been defective since I've had it. I couldn't figure out why I had to keep changing my dpi settings in the middle of games. Turns out the dpi resets exactly 8 seconds after I change it for no apparent reason. Plus I found out my left scroll button is dead! So now I have both my G700 and my G500 plugged in so I can navigate menus and control pitch with the G500 (dpi settings work on it) and still use 12 of my G700 buttons (which is permanently stuck at a ridiculously high dpi) to handle shields, energy placement and firing. Heck, I could program all 10 buttons on my G500 to handle even more stuff, saving me having to hunt for keyboard buttons all the time. So that puts me at 22 mouse buttons at my disposal! Then I could throw in my Mionix 5000 7 button mouse for a grand total of 29 buttons! Who needs a keyboard to play this game?
