Hello there fellow space pilots.
When getting a contract the nav point shows up my HUD.
If i manually travel to the place there is no problem, if i hit the jump button immediately the nav point goes somewhere else and i jump to that point with the result of loosing the contract.
Is this some kind of error? Is it because i have to hire a crew member?
Thank you very much and wish you safe exploring.

hi Letoras, make sure you arent holding alt when you engage the jump drive!

Yep it is best to use the keyboard (default F2). Also if you go someplace else or move the nav marker just go to the little square waypoint box to Finnish the mission.

I had this exact same problem when I started playing this game the other day. You are controlling with keyboard & mouse aren't you? And the only way to select icons on the screen with your mouse cursor is to hold down the ALT key for normal mouse movement right? Well that is the cause of the problem right there, lol. The ALT key in this game works as a modifier for most of the game's normal actions. From post: 126325, Topic: tid=8583, author=Letoras wrote:Hello there fellow space pilots.

The F2 key is your default Jump drive button. Pressing F2 once will engage your jump drive and jump you to your current set waypoint (Giant Yellow Marker). However, pressing ALT + F2 once will automatically engage a maximum distance jump and will auto set a new waypoint at the maximum distance that your current jump drive can handle in a single jump and then it will jump you out to that point.
Clicking on the "Jump" button on your HUD is exactly the same as pressing F2. The game recognizes it as if you had pressed F2. Thus if you're holding the ALT key to move your mouse cursor while you click on the "Jump" icon on your HUD, you're actually keying in ALT + F2 to the game and it is engaging a maximum distance jump. That is why it suddenly makes a new waypoint off to the side of where your original waypoint was and then jumps you way out into BFE all of a sudden.
The reason this cancels your current mission is because you're jumping so far that you're actually leaving the current sector that you're in. Leaving the sector where your mission is will automatically cancel the current mission.
To avoid this, simply use F2 to travel to your waypoints instead of clicking on the "Jump" button with your mouse cursor. Alternately, if you use a joystick you do not have to hold ALT to move the mouse cursor around, you can just freely move it around. Thus it would allow you to click on "Jump" using your mouse cursor without this issue occurring if you were using a joystick instead of keyboard & mouse. Hope this helps you out, I got really aggrivated at this problem too originally. Happy hunting!

Thank you very much fellow pilots for your answers, it is true that i press alt and press the button on the HUD to activate the jump.
So from now on f2 is the key for jumping.
Hope to see you out there amigos.

Also, having the auto-pilot ON when pressing F2 will also cause you to lose your contract. After accepting a mission, since the waypoint will automatically set to where you need to go, you only need to press the F2 key to travel there... no alt keys or auto-pilot needed.
