So first things first, this game seems like it has quite a bit of promise. The game world is beyond huge and the multiplayer seems darned good.
But I have one big issue. What is with the combat?!?! So, I run into a couple enemy fighters and...we fight. Thats just fine. The trouble starts when there are more than just a few of us.
-Like, say I run into a couple enemy fighters and I'm sitting right next to a friendly (Green) Battleship. Sure I am fighting the fighters but all they are doing is attacking me. They are totally ignoring the battleship and it is inexplicably TOTALLY ignoring them! It doesn't attack (even when I target it and order it to). In addition, the fighters don't run even though they are (or should be) outgunned by leaps and bounds.
-It gets worse when more ships are around. Like say I'm next to a big ol space station. We have 4-5 enemy craft nearby. 4-5 neutral craft (yellow). A few green fighter-type ships. And a friendly cruiser. I AM THE ONLY ONE FIGHTING!!! Again every other craft does nothing save for my enemies that attack me...and only me.
So, am I missing something here? If there are all of these factions, why does it seem like they have no interest in attacking each other when two opposing sides meet in space? Please tell me Im just missing something here.
Problem? Or have I not gotten far enough?

I have seen many friendly navy pilots shredding rebels with missiles in the pieces sector. Kill thieves!
One problem that exists is that the navy ships could be from a nearby sector and are not at war with the local rebel faction. It is also possible the local rebels are not at war with the local navy faction.
Factions are not conveyed too well in this game, the actual space faring, combat and exploration has more then made up for it in my books.
Make sure you enter the station when you dock if you want to be safe. Its entirely possible to operate in a navy hostile sector by jumping straight to stations, paying their blasted docking fee, and gobbling up all the contracts for the navy.
When in doubt, thrust away, noones gonna catch ya going 3k.

Ok. Just wanted to make sure I was....playing it right lol. So far thats the only let down, the rest of the game is GREAT! Maybe better faction interaction could be added later.
I also realize its a somewhat small game (program wise) but perhaps battles could be coded to occur after the player arrives in an area since having them dynamically happening all over the map would be cumbersome.

Hi Kyle_Gates, welcome to the game and forum....Hope to see you out there some time....

Like MechanicalDR already explained a bit, I would like to add to that that the enemies that you see are only ships that are hostile towards you, they are your enemies and your ships computer reports which ships and what threath level they are to you and this has nothing to do whith what their threat level is to other factions. A Rebbel that has a Red threat level to you might have a Green threat Level towards the Green Navy Battle Cruiser that is also Green to you!. I have seen some interactions between the different factions. But yes if you are talking about Massive battles between different factions you will not see any and this is because of a part of the history that most of the hostility has been put a side because of the war with the Vonari. So the only real battles are fought in the Warzones between the Navy, with any help of Mercenaries, and the Vonari. So if you want to see War battles between 2 forces you have to do missions in the Warzones. Most Evochronians do not want to fight a battle at home when there is War going on with a common enemy!.....
