This is probably a dumb question but what the heck is an IMG mission? And why would you be trying to find the next one? I started the game as a Fighter Pilot class and it dropped me into the Liason sector or something like that and I have no clue what I should be doing. I've just been taking random missions from the Eclipse space station but I really have no idea what direction I should be progressing in or if there are main storyline missions I should be looking for or what?

Everyone except the fighter pilot class starts out in Sector 0,0,0 (Sapphire, Evochron Station) and gets a little basic quest from the IMG (forget what they stand for, maybe independent mercenary guild or something like that). These missions serve as a little "get a taste of everything and receive some freebies while doing so" kind of thing. From post: 125644, Topic: tid=8486, author=Maverik770 wrote:This is probably a dumb question but what the heck is an IMG mission? As for fighter pilots... well, "in the grim future, there is only war".

The IMG Quest, is a mission based quest that guides you through the learning process and helps guide you to finding things and some treasures, tips and tricks! You can only do the IMG quest in a Civilian Ship and not as a Figther Pilot. As a Fighter Pilot you can increase your Military rank by doing contracts/missions in the Warzones only and get acces to higher class military ships from Carriers when you get a higher rank. To start the IMG quest you have to trade in your military ship for a Civilian one and Start the Quest from Evochron Station in Saphire.
Once you have a Civilian Ship open one of the consoles that shows you View Last Quest....and there should be instructions of what to do I believe. It has been a long time since I have done it....So others will have to correct me if I'm wrong on anything here!....

Wow! That makes a lot of sense now. No wonder I feel like I was missing something. I've never played the game before and I chose Fighter Pilot class to start with cause that role appeals to me most. Apparently that's probably a somewhat more advanced starting role designed for peeps with a little experience under their belts. I'm actually doing ok at it so far, I think. I've completed quite a few combat missions and upgraded my weapons a bit. I just wasn't sure where to be going from there as a Fighter Pilot. I have a whole lot to learn about this game. I don't even know how to identify what areas are warzones or how to get out of the sector I'm in, lol.
Plus do planets show up on the Navigation Map? The sector I'm in looks totally empty except for 2 space stations, the purple jump gate and some bright blue thing that gives no info when I mouse over it.
And what the heck is the difference between Sec X, Sec Y, Sec Z and Pos X, Pos Y, Pos Z? The Navigation map has 2 sets of coordinates and so does the jump gate list on this website:

Sec X, Y, and Z, are sector coordinates, which specify a specific sector which is pretty much a cube of space. From post: 125711, Topic: tid=8486, author=Maverik770 wrote: And what the heck is the difference between Sec X, Sec Y, Sec Z and Pos X, Pos Y, Pos Z? To answer your other questions. Yes, planets do show up on the nav map. Since you started as a fighter, you're in a war zone right now. Flying through those purple gates is the easiest way to move around. Open your nav map and click the Quadrant button to get a view of all the notable sectors within your current quadrant, and see little connecting lines showing you what order to jump between them. The civilian folks start out in sector 0,0,0 (Sapphire).

I believe as a fighter pilot you start out in the Talison Warzone, where there is one Station and one Carrier. At the Carrier you get your military ships once your rank is high enough you get access to more advanced military ships.
There are 4 War zones I'm aware of 3 of them on the Vonari border in the 3 most northern systems, Sierra Warzone, Talison Conflict, Cerulean Warzone and the other one is in Pearl System called Arvoch Conflict!...
