Nav Problem, am I being thick?

Post by Panda »

Hey guys, just bought the game and enjoying it but having a problem with the nav map. I'll start a mission, click to make a waypoint where the mission is. Hit the jump button, end up somewhere else and fail the mission. I guess I must be doing something thick but can't work it out.

If you are using keyboard and mouse, you'll need to remember not to push alt when jumping. ;)

Hi Panda and welcome to the game!

Whenever you accept a contract, you do not have to manually set a waypoint. All you have to do upon accepting, is hit F2. The waypoint is set for you by the contract. If you do manually set one, there's a good chance it's not in range of the mission area and as you arrive there, the system will read you as out of the area and you will fail the mission.

Hope this helps. See you online some time. ;)

 Mostly, what Cindy said. Lots of players make the mistake of holding down the Alt key when jumping via F2. Don't do it.

Also when you set a waypoint manually check both rear view and top view in the NavMap that both views put you very close to the waypoint mission, other wise you might be setting a waypoint out of the sector above it or below it!....;)

 But usually vice versa ... you're looking at a station while zoomed out, not realizing the zoomed out view is in three dimensions. In other words, the station could be above or below you. So, if you right-click on it without first checking the Y coordinate, you end up looking at a blank sector ... one along your current Y axis.

I tried that and seemed to end up somewhere random, think I was holding alt.

This place seems really helpful and friendly thanks guys!
