I just purchased this game and like what I am seeing. However, I do have the following configuration question:
When in 'Configure Controls,' I see the two axes for my mouse, which correspond to Turn and Pitch respectively. This is such when using the Mouse Direction Normal control mode.
Is there a way to change the Turn axis so that it corresponds to Roll instead? With that setup, I would be able to pitch and roll with my mouse, which is what I am used to in flight simulators.
Furthermore, no pilot uses the rudder to commit a craft into a turn. It is more natural to roll and change pitch upwards in order to accomplish a right/left turn. This way, one is pushed into the seat due to the force, and not into the side of the craft when simply turning the nose left/right. Due to this, it makes more sense to have the default mouse axes set to Roll and Pitch, with, of course, the option to change.\\
Thanks for all replies!

Hi Icehex, welcome to the game and forum...Hope to see you out there some time!.....

I think you can asign the mouse axis the way you want it in the Axis configuration menu instead of joystick select mouse and Keyboard and you can asign Mouse control there if I'm not mistaken.
And the turn and G-forces you describe apply to atmospheric flight for Aircrafts where there is friction and gravity. In this Game you are flying a Space ship that uses thrusters and inertial dampening systems and no rudders so in Space you can apply your rudder controls to control your left and right thrusters to make you turn around your vertical axis in a twisting action in Space to turn your nose in any direction while drifting in inertia!......Even when Entering Atmosphere your space ship uses other methods and uses different thrusters for handeling atmospheric flight then rudders!.......

Unfortunately, the mouse flight control modes don't offer that option. It's on the to-do list as an option for the expansion though and may be something I can back-port before then.

Thanks for the replies! I think the option to change the mouse axes would be very nice.
I understand atmospheric flight is different from space flight, but in the end, when considering the physical effects on the pilot, it is easier on the pilot to roll and pitch than to turn (as turning would push the pilot against the sides of the ship). On the other hand, however, turning would be fine as long as the axis of the turn was centered on the pilot, so that he doesn't experience a force pushing him against any of the sides of the ship. So, granted that the spacecraft is balanced properly, I suppose it all comes down to personal preference!

It is a preference thing, space-sims have trended toward the yaw default, flight-sims toward the roll default. It's mappable with the other controls modes for keyboard, gamepad, and joystick, just hasn't been for mouse yet. Enough players have been interested in the option for mouse flight control that the plan is to provide these three additional control modes:
- Mouse Direction Roll X
- Mouse Direction Roll X Rev Y
- Mouse Point Roll X
So this way, both primary mouse flight control modes will have these additional optional modes for rolling with the X axis.

Oh, I was also going to mention (I seem to be forgetting things lately, lol), since it may be a little while yet before the next client update rolls out and if you want this control mode sooner rather than later, send me a quick e-mail with the request to remind me and I'll put together a custom build of 1.808 that includes these control options. You'd just need to download the small replacement exe file. Same offer applies to anyone else interested in trying it out.
