Faction Reputation

Post by EmmanuelToldstein »

I've just entered a new system and everyone hates me. I'm attacked by every faction on sight. Thinking to increase my reputation with the local system government, I've been doing contracts for the Energy and Navy factions. I've done over 20 contracts, killed dozens of Rebels and Guild members, and cleaned tons of solar arrays, but my faction reputation has only budged about 2-3%. Does it normally take this long to influence faction reputation? Also, is there a better way to get friendly with the local factions without having to dock at a station within hostile territory having to pay the docking fee every time?

Welcome to the forum and the Sim!

Faction reputation takes an awfully long time. beyond that I can't help much I'm afraid. I have no patience with it and just shoot anything red. :)

You can also just kill any Rebel or Guild that gets in your way. Any 10 rebels or guild kills count for 1% change in reputation. Now if you do contracts and kill in the contract 10 rebels the change in rep is 2%

So you can change reputation by just killing all Rebels and Guilds but your Status/Rank will not increase that much! So if you do both contracts/missions that involve killing a lot of rebels or guilds you reputation and Status/Rank will change faster.....;)

Thanks for the help! One last thing: if I'm in a hostile system like I am now, is it really worth it to stick around and work on increasing faction reputation? I'm losing almost half of my contract money by paying docking fees.

Short answer is no.

Slightly longer answer is that once you reach "Legend" civilian rank, you have no docking fees, and might be better served working on system rep then.

Though it is a sand-box and there is no real right answer!

 I think all the vets have game-lag of sorts. Yes, you can escape having to pay fees ... build your own station. Anywhere there's space.

Yeah, nice way of putting it! :)

Hard to remember the beginning stages sometimes.

 It's like jet-lag, only worse. It's more like a combination of jet-lag and multiple Yoda moments.
