Newie question about saving

Hi all, I just picked this up from the steam sale, and so far am enjoying it, except that I am having serious issues with saving.

Mostly that the quicksave doesn't seem to actually do anything. It tells me that my progress has been saved, but if I quit without saving (which is another issue I am having) all of my progress is gone.

The issue I am having with quitting and saving is that about 50-60% of the time I quit, I am not able to click save. My cursor freezes on the save/don't save screen, then I am back at the main menu without having selected anything.

Losing all my progress several nights in a row has been very disheartening.

welcome demoncorsair!

the quicksave should work, but you cannot save during a contract, which also means that if you are in MP, and anyone has a contrcat in your sector, that you can't save until it is completed or failed. Hope this help at least a little.

Hello demoncorsair, I do not rely on the "Quick Save" option. I push "Esc" to get to the exit screen then I select the pilot profile slot I wish to save to and click on it. It should save your progress to that point. I actually save to two slots at a time so if one fails (due to my error) I have a back up save to that point. I then re-enter the game until I want to save again which I do often. Hope this helps. Oh yes, you can not save during a mission so save just before you pick a mission or just after it says mission complete.

Hey thetiebers, from your reply it sounds like you have to fully exit the game to save your progress. Is that correct?

I've experienced the same thing that demoncorsair has. The main issue being that when I hit escape to access the menu and click to exit and save the game freezes up on the save/don't save screen, I then drop back to the games main menu with all my progress lost.

Hello, imanator, What I meant is hit "ESC" which then shows the screen that lets you do many things like "exit, return to game or quick save or select a profile to save to". Do not hit the exit option until you have saved using this pages save options or yes you will leave the MP portion or the game. Sorry about any confusion.
