Overheating problems when playing

Post by StarBuck01 »

Hello,

I'm having problems with my laptop overheating when playing this game! My system specs are as follows:

Processor: Intel i5 @2.5GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 4GB
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

I can normally run all but the high end games quite easily but this game is proving the exception!

I've also tried turning down all the graphic settings on the game but this only gives me an extra 15 minutes extra playing time before the laptop overheats!

Any help would be appreciated!

What's the make and model of the laptop? Your best option is probably to clean the system with compressed air. Then if that doesn't work, you may have incorrect fan speed settings applied or the fan(s) it/themselves may be defective.

Hello StarBuck01, sorry to hear of your problem. I run the Sim on two different laptops. I did run into high heat issues on my newer one and I keep it on a fan board now to help with the cooling. My old one seems to run ok on minimum graphics. When I looked into getting my new laptop I did see some that had overheating problems running some programs so it may not be an easy fix for you. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime. :)

Make sure your fan is working. The fan of my wifes old laptop stopped working and causes heat issues so now it only works in a cold room or putting a cold pack underneat it!.....;):P:P:P:P:P

Overheating problems when playing

Did your laptop ever run cool? If so it might be full of dust now. I've had this problem myself (I used to smoke and I have two dogs.) Someone told me to use canned air in all of the laptop's holes and I've had no further problems. I spray it every two weeks and got a laptop cooler which is probably overkill but my laptop now runs very cool and fast and will run anything with the graphics turned all the way up.

Hope this helps.

laptop fans can be difficult to clean. they may look clean from the outside after useing compressed air but have a nice thick layer of whatever caked up on the back side of the heat sink where u cant clean unless you dissaslemble it and remove the cooler/heatsink assy.

i found this alot on customers laptops after they already tried compressed air and said it was clean
