How come friendly ai(green) don't assist you when attacked?

Why do they just sit there and not fight back? That is sadly a feature I was hoping for but was saddened when they just sat there while I get pummeled by 3+ ships. D:

They may or may not assist based on your civilian and military ranks. Don't expect the help to be that helpful though.

They are friendly, but for the most part will not attack your enemies. You can get close to them, target them and hit F4 and hire them to join your fleet, so you can command them for a price. Once you get past a certain military rank you can command any of them in the area.

Well also the Reds to you might be Greens to the other Greens. The reds are only your enemies and not nescesarely the enemies of the others who are green to you. Reds are only the ones who are a treath to you and might not be a treath to the ones you see as Greens!....

I have seen 2 Greens fight each other so both of them are no treath to me but they must see each other as Reds!

I have also seen 2 Reds fight each other so that means both are a treath to me and each other!
