Due to the MASSIVE INFLUX of "STEAM" Players a SECOND SERVER is DESPERATELY NEEDED untill the Return of MM.

If Anyone is able To Host I Ask They Contact VICE And Ask to Be Placed on the Public Server List Next to Dingo's "USS"

This Will Only Be Nessesary Untill MM's Return, but THREE SERVERS Could Be EXTREMELY INTESTING.

I can't stress enough the need for more servers at this point. Particularly in Europe and Asia/Oceana

I'm in the process of opening a 6 player server for our community in Southeast Asia

The server will be located in Tokyo Japan

If more people from Asia would be interested to play, I will increase the number if we can get enough funding for it as well. It's kinda expensive to rent a server in our region 8(

EDIT: OT, but why isn't my sig working also? For some reason this forum board is renaming our site to oh myeek? Our real domain name is O-M-Geek.net (without the -)

Just set up Evochron Horizons server. Currently max players is set to 35 but i may have to tone it down a little depending on how this stress test goes. It's located in america and after some story development will be a role play server. Currently however its more or less do as you please server. Obviously the standard rules apply. Griefing ect is not allowed.

I don't want to make demands here, especially since we can obviously use all the help we can get, but if there is someone from Europe who is in the position to host a server, that would be awesome. Players from Europe have about an average ping of around 120-160 to an overseas server like USS and now Kronous'. This never used to be a real issue since there never were that many players online at the same time, but from experience I know that when a server fills up, this will become a problem for them in terms of even higher pings and probably packet loss.

As you know, both Maarschalk and I love to practice our use of proper English diction.
Thus we continuosly test both our written and verbal skills in the forum and game. Maarschalk wants my title as the Grand Pooba of EM Grammer. This title was bestowed to me by Mr. Webster (the father of the dictionary). As you can the banter lives on.

All kidding aside! We will need three servers based on last nights attendance.
Dingo has a super server with 8 gigs of ram and once we got over 22 players the lag was bad. I went from a ping of green 93 to Red Barring. I was on when we hit 29 pilots and it really was bad on a super computer! So the 35 pilots on a server no way!
This huge influx of players means an invasion to every clan quadrant.
Again thank you Dingo, you and MM are so unselfish for allowing us to play!

Just thinking ahead here for a sec.
Although having several servers is a good solution for the time being, if a couple more servers appear to help out, some of them might start their own forums, establish a distinctive character (ie pure role play, pvp, no-rules) and the current community might get divided between those servers. Basically the same as what happened with Freelancer. Although this could simply turn out to be an inevitable consequence of the game's success, and it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing at all, I would love to see this community stick together.

If the player increase keeps up and we all want to stick together, the only really good option left would be to have a dedicated high spec server. Which will cost money and quite a bit of it.
Although we're not at this point yet, things can develop quickly. Maybe this would be something to keep in the back of our minds for when the time comes.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised at all if Vice has given this some thought already when he created the game and was just waiting for the player base to increase and remain stable.

As for rules i think USS has a great rule set.
so hopefully dingo wont mind me borrowing a few of them.

1. No player abuse, personal attacks, non game-related badgering.
2. Station destruction will not be allowed to be anonymous. I will let anyone whose station destroyed know the name of the person doing the destroying.

The difference is Text chat does not gave to remain PG however cursing should be limited to roleplay. rants and all that wont be tolerated. an any language that is racial, sexist, or bigoted in any way will not be tolerated.

Hello Kronous, thanks for your server. Welcome to the forum and the Sim also.

I just tried the two servers "Dingo's & Kronous's" from The Bay area in California.

Dingo's "USS" Ping was 205 with 18 players

Kronous's "Horizons" Ping was 191 with 18 players

Good thing two servers are up as 36 players + will stress us all. It's great to see the volume of players and hope others have the equipment and temperament to run more servers if needed.

Testing done in new 1.788 build

Kronous, nice job on the site, and again thanks for picking this up as quickly and thoroughly as you have.

Should you decide you need some additional graphic work done on the site, I would gladly offer my services to you.
Since we are not yet acquainted I'll give you a few examples of some of my work: I have designed the Arvoch Alliance logo and the generic borders used on the AA website, and did the graphics on the [RVR] clan forum board.
