How many players can play on a server?

Thanks to this game unlimited fun factor, we are seeing new names, low ranks, high ranks and a lagged out USS server with 12 pilots logged on.
I am not complaining because I am happy just to have a multiplayer server to play on and secondly that more people are playing. For me the more the merrier.
I am just curious what is the maximum amount of players one server can handle?

it was only lagging out since the 12 players were in gunner bindings and in the same sector. Without gunner bindings, not much problem handling max server load, which the program sets at 35, and which has never been hit on either R1 or USS.

WOW!!!!! 35 Players!!!!!!!
The most players I ever played with was 16 in Legends on MM server.

most concurrently on USS so far is also 16.
I did see 18 once on R1 about 5 months back. Most in the TWZ. Great day that one.

Funny Last night we had 14 -16 players on your server. I noticed lag with players jumping (appearing, disappearing and reappearing). It was minimal lag, again not complaining, happy to play but 35 pilots seems high.
When are you getting your new PC, I miss the Dingo!!!!!

Players ping rates can effect each other, and almost everyone is in the starting sector, so some lag is more than likely. Hopefully its not game-breaking.

Dingo when are you getting your new PC? I am dying to see you play again and I want your opinion on your new AMD CPU.
Will you be running Windows 7?

After playing with 29 pilots last night with six waiting to join and the USS SERVER revealed that over 100 different people logged on yesterday!!!!! Our days of having this beautiful game all to ourselves is over!!!!!
Great job Vice!!!!! For making something so fun to play that everyone in the world wants play!!!!!!!!!!
Dingo and MM thank you for allowing all of us on your servers. Based on just yesterday we will need at least 4 servers in the future.
I believe the maximum on a single server is no more then 20 players (and the USS is a super PC).
