@Vice: unknown object located, possible bug?
I am reporting this since it seems like something unintended.
Located an unknown object which seemed to be a Chimera military frame. Object's engines seemed engaged, yet object was stationary. Object did not return ID reading on radar.
When fired at with particles, beam and missiles, object's shields went down but armor did not take damage.
When approaching the object, the game (or my computer) slowed down significantly. Frame rate dropped to below acceptable and key response was none existent or delayed and/or randomly repeating. At point blank range, my HUD pitch ladder deformed and spread all over the screen from top to bottom.
A game restart was necessary to return it to its normal performance.
I have made a video report of the encounter, you can view it here. The low frame rate during the movie is due to the drop in performance during the encounter.
The location of the object is shown in the last part of the video.
<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TRCODvoZUzc?ve ... ge"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TRCODvoZUzc?ve ... detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Hoping this will be helpful.

Looks like a remnant object from multiplayer. Was this in multiplayer or single player?

Although rare, it can be possible for the client-side gamestate to lose track of a disconnecting player if certain packets are lost. It can result in such an object remaining behind for a while, specifically one without a description like that and limited status details. They'll generally fix themselves eventually and you can often prompt an auto-fix by jumping to a nearby sector and back again.

That does sound like a logical explanation. However, before I decided to record the video I had already approached it before and tried to manipulate it. This is why you see the object's shields down in the video, I had already fired at it during the first encounter.
Because the sudden drop in performance, I decided to restart the game and check out the object again. This is when I decided to record the video and as you can see, the object was still there, and still had its shields down.
So if it's something client-side gamestate related, shouldn't it have corrected itself when I restarted the game?

Dingo, since you are the USS Server Operator, is it possible for you to check whether someone flying a Chimera logged off at that location, around 1.5-2 hours ago?

Sorry, no way for me check what area anyone was in unless they are doing contracts that show in log. Miaz might have been there as he logged off when you were on and is known to fly a chimera. But you'd have to ask him. From post: 123018, Topic: tid=8300, author=Reaver 5 wrote:Dingo, since you are the USS Server Operator, is it possible for you to check whether someone flying a Chimera logged off at that location, around 1.5-2 hours ago?

Is it still there? If so, please post the sector coordinates and local coordinates.

These "ghost" ships I have seen quite often.
Nothing to be concerned about in my case.
I have never noticed a drop in performance around these things before.

Once you enter multiplayer it is quite possible to see your own ghost. Enter MP in open space (not at a station). Slowly move your ship forward then turn around 180 degrees. You should see a "ghost" of whatever ship you are flying.
No guarantees, but it's worked for me on multiple occasions.

Can you tell me how you got a video embedded on here? I tried times before, all attempts failed.

I've looked at the source code for this page and there are several lines of HTML related to the inserted video.
I copied the part that directly refers to the video and it embedded the video!
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TRCODvoZUzc?ve ... detailpage"
Just this line actually embeds the video from YouTube and as though without any size info. It starts with the word "embed"
That rung a bell! There is an embed option on original YouTube pages, just below the video itself. I copied and pasted the embed text (which is HTML) from a YouTube teaser page for EM and this is what you see!
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lW6vHgRgTe8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So - go to the YouTube page of the video you want, tick the embed options you want and copy and paste the resultant HTML text into your post

what I did was right-click on the video, then select 'Copy embed HTML'. Then simply paste the whole thing in your message and voilá!From post: 123111, Topic: tid=8300, author=Mecingo wrote:Can you tell me how you got a video embedded on here? I tried times before, all attempts failed.
