Any hints for the Cerulean IMG quest

Post by 8Blue_Wolf8 »

Hi all,
So it's 'head out and take out 12 fighters', I've managed to destroy around 5 before getting taken out...again and again... are there any hints on this one or is it just nightmarish???

Cheers
:)

Any hints for the Cerulean IMG quest

Post by SeeJay »

Hi 8blue.

There are several ways of taking out multiple foe's.
Easy way is to use a Fulcrum Torpedo. (To easy imho).

A more challenging way is to strafe around them picking them off one by one in inertia mode.
Bring shields down with lasers and change to guns and send an Exodus missile will finish
every one off. Repeat and stay out of their reach.

A fun way is to do it in MP and ask others to help out with the contract.

The key is to keep your speed up (at about 1000K) and use inertia to reduce your heat signature.
Always point your nose at your enemy.

Hope this helps a bit.

Good luck;)

Hi, Blue_Wolf.

SeeJay's advice is right on. I did this last night on MP with someone I bumped into on there, and he connected to me with the gunner binding. It went pretty smoothly.

What I did was try to stay focused on the 4 ships that were there right when I jumped in, and ignored other any others that came in. As soon as I downed the 4 original ships, I hopped to the next waypoint.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that killing any new ships that came along wouldn't count toward the total, and you had to keep track of the 4 original ones. Maybe someone else can clarify. :)

 Any four of the same faction ... unless it's an Ace contract. If that's the case, you need to kill the Ace.

The killing of hostiles in a contract or mission depends on who you are doing the contract for. If you need to kill 4 hostiles for the navy or energy then any 4 ships belonging to Rebels or Guild even green and yellow ones count towards mission completion except as Marvin says if it is an Ace killing mission then you have to include the Ace in the kill amount. If you doing a kill contract for the Rebels or Guild then destroying any 4 ships belonging to Navy, Energy and Miners even the green and yellow ones will complete the contract. Remember that Green and Yellow ships are only your friends and might be the enemies of who you are doing the contracts for so killing your friends in other words betraying them to complete contract is possible! Not that I would do such a thing but that is life......;):P:P:P:P:P:P

I was about to start a thread about this same mission. I upgraded to a Venture frame with class 6 shields, engine, etc. I like the agility of that frame at my price point, but I might need something with stouter armor.

At any rate, I keep getting waxed as well. I can pick off a couple of ships drifting by but eventually the combined firepower is too much. I find myself essentially strafing by and shooting down an endless barrage of missiles, I'm starting to think it's too much to handle on my own. I know this is where the game jumps up in difficultly, but six against one seems a bit hefty. I guess I'll just log onto MP and solicit help until I can manage to complete the mission. The gunnery thing would probably work, I tried that on a mission with Dave-S a few nights ago and it's pretty nifty...pew pew pew!

If anyone wants to help out a noob, hook me up when you see Twilly Frost log on tonight, especially if global chat keeps informing you that I've been destroyed...over...and over....and over...

I finally beat this mission. Essentially I just flew around the fringe of the pack until a ship would peel off from the main group and present a nice opportunity to get slagged. Got some help from outside factions (NPC? Navy? Another player? I really don't know)

Either way I'm on to the next IMG mission, this one involves stealth. I bought a stealth generator (half a mil is a lot for a noob) and I hope it will give me the 60 seconds of privacy I need to snoop undetected.

There needs to be a way to overload your fulcrum drive and take out a capital ship as a last ditch eff yew when faced with eminent death.

There is the F7 Key for self destruct, but unfortunately you will never know if you took the Cap Ship with you!.....;):P:P:P:P:P

 There is a Fulcrum for that purpose ... but it isn't part of your engine. ;)

You must be referring to the torpedo by that same name, and yes, it packs a wallop! Only good for capital ships and sleeping pilots me thinks, as it practically has to be unloaded and mounted to an enemy hardpoint and detonated (read: slow) :P

The torpedo has to be mounted to the enemy in Arvoch Aliance. In Evochron Mercenary you fire it in the direction of the enemy fleet and you make sure you stay out of its destructive range!......;):P:P:P:P:P:cool:
