Profile lost - help requested to get back up

Hi guys,

When I reinstalled Windows, I forgot to make a backup of my pilot profile. Blame's on me here, I should have thought of it.

Vice has sent me a pilot file which has some progress in it, but it's far from where I was. It's still flying a civilian frame and uses low-end equipment, and only has 2 missions in the quest completed, lol. Back to being n00b lol.

For reference, my profile looked something like this:
- Evoch-E
- Highest level equipment. Forgot the weapons but that's no biggy.
- Legend civilian rating, and Captain military rank.
- I don't care too much about the number of missions or ships destroyed, can't remember either lol.

Since I really don't have the time to build my rank and rating back up, I am humbly asking you guys for assistance.

I'm not sure whether it's too much or improper to ask, but it would be awesome if someone could send me (one of) his pilot profile file(s) which matches or comes close to what I described above. I will then rename it and enjoy your hard work lol.

Besides that, I would appreciate any form of help.

Btw, to answer a proposition from a different thread, this is how a total n00by pilot can get ahold of a Chimera.

Got it all up and running again, so thanks a lot for the help TheTiebers and Dingo! Really appreciate it guys.
I think I'm gonna keep using both of your files if you guys don't mind hehe. Saves me a lot of hassle.

Hi ... I'm new to Evochron. Although played lots of space sims over the years.

Question: How do I back up my pilot's log? I can't seem to find any files that look like a pilot's log on my PC.

And I haven't seen anything in the docs or forums so far.

Hello Alfinete, I like to make a back up of my pilots to a flash (thumb) drive as well as my hard drive so if the hard drive dies (not very often but it might) I still have my info. I do this with most of my files also. I case I have not done so yet, Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime.

Did you mean Pilot Profile or Map Log? there is no Pilot Log but you can create one!
The Pilot Profiles are called PilotX.sw where X = a number corresponding to the number of the profile in game in the pilot manager!;)

Actually since the pilotx.sw are numbered from zero and the slots from one, slot 1 iss pilot0.sw, slot 10 is pilot9.sw etc.

I mention this because editing a looong list of profiles "in game" is a chore so I thought I'd do it directly in my file manager and didn't realise what a difference 1 makes, until I reloaded the game - thank heaven's for backups

In my case it would be like this:

X = 0 = Pilot0.sw = 1. Maarschalk
X = 1 = Pilot1.sw = 2. Maarschalk
X = 2 = Pilot2.sw = 3. Alias(No, I'm not giving away my aliases)...LOL...

Hi guys .... many thanks for the greetings and kind words. I have every intention of playing MP and meeting you personally online. But right now, Evochron is kinda overwhelming and I'm still finding my legs, as it were.

I think I owe an explanation regarding my question above. Here it is:

I installed the game to D:\\Games\\Evochron

I could not find any pilot files in that directory, so I checked in my users\\documents directory and my users\\games directory and no pilot files in either of those. So I felt a bit lost.

Then after reading the posts, it dawned on me that the pilot files would be in the default directory (C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary) ... and yes, that is where they were. I have since backed them up.

So, thanks for the help on that one. Now I'm going to hunt for a jump-gate map. Man, do I get lost easily!! I really hope there is one I can download.

Hey Alfinete, welcome aboard! Check the Evochron Legends Strategy Guide for a "jump gate" map, more commonly known as a "Quadrant" map. It should be a jpeg file that you can peruse or print out. Since there hasn't as yet been one published for Merc's, I've adjusted the Legends map that I use for Merc's. Just a thought.

EL Strategy Guide is available from a few sources. Here in the forum, or on SeeJay's web-site(s). Good luck and see yaz out dere!

If you want, I can create a print-friendly image with all jumpgates in the Quadrant.
The ones on my site are not that print friendly.

Hey ... I'd love a print-friendly map. And I'm sure others would too. A link would be real handy.

I was playing online tonight under the call sign "Alfa_C". Had a boodle of fun, but only went as far as Olympus. I didn't really know if I could (or if it was wise to) venture any further.

I found the guys really good to interact with. So congrats on a nice community. I hope I can do my part too.

OK ... found the gate data and managed to make a spreadsheet out of it. Thanks. A graphical MAP would still be cool though.

If you get impatient waiting on SeeJay, DL the customizing kit and check the hud folder. You can find a copy of one in there, IIRC.
