Noob Needs Help!!!

Post by Anomoly »

Real noob here I have played Freelancer for years and am considered one of the better over all pilots throughout freelancer. I came across this game and though hey theres a challenge, and boy is it. The cockpit view is that how most fly these things? The cost of the game and does it cost to join multiplayer servers? I have alot of questions about this game and would like a little run down on the whole thing from someone that is a vet on this game.

Thanks, Anomoly

Hi and welcome Anomoly.

I am to an old Freelancer pilot. (SP only).
I entered MP almost right away on this great sim and never left.
The only cost you have is to purchase the game.

Normally there is 2 servers running and they are both free.
R1 is currently down since the owner is ill, but USS is up and running.

I fly my ship in 2D cockpit view. That way I only have the instruments in view and the
rest of the interior is gone. Easier to chase targets that way imho.

The cost of Evochron Mercenary is $29.95 (http://www.starwraith.com/)
Vice (The developer) updates the game very often and it's free as well.

Just hit us with all your questions. They will be answered.
However, I have created a site that does not have any spoilers and can be
very helpful for new players. Feel free to browse that: http://www.junholt.se/evoschool/index.htm

It is a very friendly and helpful community and you'll get all the help you need in MP to.

Hi Anomoly, welcome to the forum and hopefully the game. I'm an old SP Freelancer myself! When I got Freelancer back in the days I did not know there was such a big community of Freelancers and most of them are now in the Evochron Comunity....;):P:cool:
Like SeeJay I like to have only the HUD and intrument panels on. You have the option to turn the Cockpit off in the options panel. And in game you have 3 or 4 different HUD settings!
The Servers are free and are run by private persons who setup their own Server. Any one who wants can run a Server and hold public or private sessions!.....If you liked Freelancer you defenitely will like this game! You have more freedom you can do some quests or make your own quest and share with others or do contracts and missions to build up your Civilian Status and/or Military Rank or to trade or explory the Universe......;)

You can also try the free demo in training mode unlimited before using your 90 minutes trial session. So I suggest get the free demo, do all the training sessions read up on the read me file that comes with the free demo in the games folder and when you are comfortable use your 90 minutes trial session to get some Rank and Status and Credits this will count towards the full game once you purchase the Key!. And also visit SeeJay's Site.....:)

Howdy Anomoly, there are mods for the cockpit and you can mod it yourself with the customizing kit that you can download (for free) on the game web site. Welcome to the forum and hopefully the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime. :)
