Hello there, i was on youtube browsing something or other and came across a video of the game, well that took me here and now im posting this :D

anyways, i downloaded the demo but 90 minutes doesnt seem like a long time to really get a feel for this game. so i have a few questions to anyone who can answer them before i buy this game: (cause when your poor, 30 bucks is alot :/)

1) i came from playing Freelancer, how well does this compare?

2) i was mining in my ship (because mining is what i do best) and noticed my hold filled rather fast and i didnt get that much money per return to the station, is there anyway you can make a sort of "transport" ship?

3) what is the largest ship you can get in the game, because it looks to be very fighter/single pilot based ships being flown around.

4) how many people play online at any given time? coming from freelancer i saw about 30-50 people online at any given time so there were alot of people to interact with and run missions/PvP with.

well thats all the questions i can think up right about now. thank you to anyone who replies with some answers to this. i might have some more questions later on.

Thanks again!

Hello TKup93, you can get more play time by loading the demo and go to training. Once there just ignore the instructor and do your own testing. You have to mine the more expensive types of ore to make money faster. You can have up to 5 cargo holds (you have to buy them) depending on the size ship you have. Military ships are limited to 1 cargo bay and no crew members. on-line varies depending on the time of day but can be from 1 to 15+. Not a big as Freelancer yet but lots better. Welcome to the forum and hopefully the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime. :)

I also played Freelancer, but SP only.

This is SO MUCH BETTER!
Total freedom to do what you want out there.

Also you can hook up with another pilto and one is pilot and the other Gunner. Great fun.

Warning!
This game really ruins your social life LOL!

This game beats Freelancer hands down. While there are fewer players online, it is a much closer community and I have gotten to know people much better than when I played Freelancer.

I hope to see you out there.

You can have 5 cargo hold on the starter ship, so no worries there. I think of the ships like legos, custom everything, modular design. Welcome to the game!

Hi TKup93, welcome to the forum, I used to play Freelancer to but never Multi Play online....!
Evochron Mercenary is much better then Freelancer. If you liked Freelancer you will defenitely get hooked on this one!
About the Demo Time, 90 minutes is not much, but if you want to get a feel for the game you can spend more time in the training mode and sessions without using your demo time. So I would spend more time in the training mode if I where you and then when you got a good feel for it then use up your demo time!...Hope to see you out there once you decide to get the game....;)

thanks for the welcoming!

so from what i got from the answers, its a funner single-player experince but the multi-player lacks "somewhat" in the terms of player count. and also there are no ships larger than fighters? hmm, that makes things kinda difficult : / well, maybe when i get a job and get some income going ill purchase the game, but being poor i just dont have the money to spend right now.

Thanks again for the welcoming! and i hope to see yall soon.

Unlike Freelancer I play Evochron Mercenary Multiplay a lot!....
It is not lacking at all imho!.....It can be a lot of fun and you can get a lot of help. It is the same as Single Player except for clan wars and clan control of sectors if you decide to join a clan and you have company to talk to if other players are online or the Server operators of USS and Remula One will talk to you if they are around!.......;):cool::cool::cool::cool:

Freelancer Discovery has 140 avg at peak and 50 at down time. I've played there for 4 years.

Freelancer is more of an arcade style while this fits closer to a simulator. Freelancer has a solid simplistic combat system while Evochron could use a bit of enhancement in that area. As well as capital ship improvements.

Evochron out performs Freelancer in depth.

For online here I haven't been able to be online for awhile school and all been bothersome. I have logged in and enjoyed meeting various people. Joining factions are the best way to get in tuned with the setting. I've come from a RPing server and wouldn't want to join any factions without having some since of RP. It's just habit that I do so. 4 years of one servers rules never seem to depart from me aha.

Right now I am casually playing once semester is over I can get into more.
