Hi all,
I've been doing a few combat missions and invariably the number of enemies I encounter is way higher than in the mission descriptions. (eg escort ship A till it can jump...expected fighters 4)...I jump to the waypoint take out 5 enemies and still they come!!!
Is the number in the mission description in any way related to the actual number you have to defeat??
On an escort mission the number of enemies are just what to expect when you arrive.
As in real life combat situations, backup will arrive as well. That's why you encounter more.
In a contract where you need to go to a waypoint and kill 4 enemies, you might encounter
more but you only need to kill 4 to complete the contract.

Yep, sometimes it is just like an ambush, actually most of the time, luckely like SeeJay says you only have to destroy 4 enemy fighters to complete the mission!....:P

Some sectors are worse than others. Starbuck and I were doing contracts last week in IM territory and spent most of the "escort" time at the water cooler. Other places, like Olympus, are overpopulated with relatives of anyone out to hijack a cap ship ... and, eventually, they all come a running.
Cool...thanks for the advice...I have been doing mainly escort missions so I might try some straight kills and then do the jump when I've fulfilled objectives.
