LMS3-DEATH IN THE SKIES

BE ADVISED: THIS CONTEST SHALL TAKE PLACE IN THE "DINGOVERSE"-DINGO'S NEW SERVER

AN LMS COMPETITION HELD IN THE SKIES OF ATLAS MINOR.
With The CITY Set as "Centre" a "KillBox" will be Established.
The KillBox shall be 30K x 30K and 30K in ALT. 15K From a "Center Point " Established in the City, in ALL DIRECTIONS/AXIS.

THE RULES ARE SIMPLE:

1) ALL Pilots Must REMAIN inside the KillBox. Leaving Disqualifies the Pilot

2) ALL Pilots Must Stay AIRBOURNE. Landing Disqualifies the Pilot, as Does Crashing.

3) ONLY EXPLOSIVE MISSILES Will Be Allowed. No Leech,Rage or Lynx Missiles Shall be Allowed. Use of Any of these Disqualifies the Pilot. The Use of FT's or PROX MINES Are STRICKLY BANNED!

4) "TEAMING" shall Result In Disqualification. This is a Pilot vs Pilot Event. The REFEREE Shall Make ALL DESICIONS involved with this Contest.

5) The Use Of STEALTH is BANNED.

THE REFEREE'S DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.

It Is My Hope that FADM[SW]Busch Would agree to Act as Referee.

He shall be Positioned in Orbit Above the City. This Way He Shall be Able to Monitor ALL PILOTS for EXITS from the KillBox.

It is Also My Hope that 4 "Spotters" can Be Placed at 15K Positions from the "Center Point" at N,S,E,W.

I WELCOME Any Advice or Suggestions Regarding the "Technical" Aspects of this Competition.

The RULES Will Remain Unchanged.

All Pilots Wishing to Participate May Enter their Names on this Thread.

 The Kill Box will be hard for a referee to gauge. Luckily, most participants are honest folk. I don't know how many pilots watch their altitude that closely but, if my HUD were to switch over to Space Mode, I'd definitely consider it as having gone out of the Box. And ... oh, by the by ... I'm in.

The honor system in EM? No, I don't think will work at all.

I'm in though. I guess.

Mike, it would be a great honor, and my great pleasure to perform the duties of Referee for this event. I herewith offer a request for other [SW] Clan pilots to perform as spotters. Presuming of course they're not part of the combat crew. ;):cool:

Thank You All. I Believe A Referee is Needed, as There has Been One in each of the Other two LMS, Sponsored By [HB].

FADM[SW]Busch. You Have My Sincere Thanks For Offering Your Services as Referee yet Again. It Would Be a Honor To Have you As Referee. If any Other [SW] Pilots Not Competing would Act as "Spotters" I would Be Most Grateful.

While I DO believe in the "Honor System" I Also Believe that in any Competition a Nuetral Monitor Must Be Present. This Will Aviod any "Misunderstandings" Between Pilots, as Referee FADM[SW]Busch's DECISIONS SHALL BE FINAL AND BINDING.

For Those of You Unfamiliar with My "Text Style" I Use CAPS for "Emphasis". I Never Yell.

Thanks Mike. And you can just call me "Busch". All of my friends do, and those of my enemies who don't call me "Sir". :)

Note: 1. You may wish to reconsider the size of your kill box. If I did the math right (20k x 20k x 20k), you've got only an 8,000 kilometer cube. Possibly too small of an area for too many pilots to fly, maneuver, and fight in. Then again, this may be what you've in mind as part of the challenge ?

2. I can loiter at 500,000 mtrs altitude for as long as my fuel holds. (At that altitude, I'll be constanly receiving the entering gravity field warning.) I've a Guardian frame w/ a 1200 unit fuel pod - my long distance/rescue frame. It may be that I'll need to drop atlitude in order to monitor activities more close-range. We can hook up sometime to test this theory. Thinking that I may also need to establish visual referents/geo-locates planet-side to "set" the box boundries, at least two-dimensionally with no navigation/map grid squares on planetary surfaces currently extant game-side.

3. Time and date of event. Possibly a laager-up/assembly point, prior to commencement of hostilities ?

Busch,

As To Your Points I Appriciate the Input. At the Moment the Number of Competitors Justifies the Current KillBox but I Believe You are Right. Should Other Pilots Enter the Competition I Shall Enlarge The KillBox. I Would Appriciate Any Input You may Have Regarding Size. I Do want this to be a "Shooting" Competion, thus the KillBox Size. Hopefully, with Your Input, a Proper Size can Be Established.

500,000 Was Just The First Number Off the Top of My Head. Basicly the "Membrane" between "Space" and "Atmosphere". I Believe a Higher Altitude Would Be More Effective For You. You Raised a Very Good Point I Failed to Consider, that of Holding Position when On the "Edge". You may Choose ANY Altitude You Deem Appropriate For You to Monitor the Event.

At the Moment, No Time/Date Has Been Set. I Shall Wait Until ALL Pilots Interested in Participating Have Entered. Then a "Suitable" Time/Date Shall Be Choosen to Accomodate the Majority, if not ALL The Participants.

Again I Thank You as I Failed to Consider a "Rally" Point Prior to the Competition. IF I Am Able I Will Construct a STN At the Nearest Sector Centre to Act as a Rally Point. If I Am Unable to Do So I Welcome Your Suggestions. I Don't Believe there is Currently a STN In the Near Proximity of Atlas Minor. Though I Am Unsure. I Shall Scout Positions Tomorrow.

My Thanks Busch.

Hi Mike

Thanks for organising a different style of competition!

I am in, though if you need spotters I volunteer - I will be back out again pretty quickly anyway having only ever gone down to cities and straight back up so far. I do "death in the skies" pretty well already without assistance from hostile pilots - much practice will be required!!

:) :)

 The easiest way to do that might be to simply find your pivot spot (center of the working area), write down the coordinates, and then have every player use those coordinates for a waypoint. That way, pilots can keep track of their distance from the center.

;) Then, prior to the "Fight's On" time, each pilot lands (hovers) close to the center. That will give everyone something extra to worry about as they engage each other ... taking off without first running into the ground.

Marv. I Think Setting the Nav Point for the "Centre" of the City is a GREAT ONE! Co-Ords will be Given to ALL Participants (X,Y,Z for Accuracey) AT THE RALLY POINT.

Our Referee Busch Will be able To Verify Ranges.

I Want Pilots to Enter the "KillBox" From Each of the 4 Compass Directions (Also Given at the RALLY POINT) This Will Allow for Some Manuevering for Position Prior to Engaging, Allowing for Optimal Use of the "AirSpace" inside the KillBox.

Atmosphere combat competition is a great idea! Would be another excellent video opportunity!

I have another idea with regards to setting the killbox zone... instead of having a spacial boundary you could have a time limit instead. When the time limit is up the winner would be either the last one alive or if there were more than 1 survivor it would be the pilot with the most number of kills. This would then motivate participants to try and get as many kills as quickly as possible, and not just fly off and hide until most of the others are already dead. Then you wouldn't have to worry about who was straying too far from the center point, the exception being not allowed into space.

MM. I Envision this as a "Kill or Be Killed" Competition. The KillBox Assures that All Participants MUST FIGHT. No Running or Hiding.

But I Totallly Forgot about Time Entirely. I Think I'll Consider "Rounds", Being that After a Specified Time Period All Pilots Left Alive will be able to Refuel/Reload, Then after a Short Break they Will Return to the KillBox for the "Final Fight".

Thanks MM.

Reaver 3 U2U'd me and wanted me to post that he is in. He LOVES atmospheric combat and he merciless at it!

Personally I might just show up too, with some FT's. They are explosive missile and not rages or lynx, so I would be following your puny rules:P:P:P

Mike, you may also wish to cut and paste the rules from the two previous LMS competitions - specifically prohibiting the use of FT's and prox mines. Admittedly, FT's are "explosive missiles", the snippet from Reaver 1 not withstanding. It should be an atmospheric aerial dog-fight scenario. A competition among peers, not a grudge-fest. imhyco.

Count me in.

My only concern would be how to make it a pilot VS pilot match being so many craft in a box fighting.... 2 against one can happen without teamwork too.

If only 3 pilots are left... how would it be regulated?
Best regards

DennyMala. I Shall Add Your Name to the Participants List.

Our Referee, [SW]Busch, as you know, is a Very Experience Pilot. He shall be the Monitor. If He Sees Patterns that Indicate "Team" Attacks on Single Pilots, he Shall Disqualify Them.

As For the Final Three. It would Be Readily Apparent if a 2 on 1 Situation were Occouring. I Also Believe Honour Still Exsists and that the Spirit of the Competition will Remain As Fashioned, Single Player Combat.

Have Faith in Our Referee.
