Texture Overhaul?

Post by R3dBuLL »

Hi,
it's been a while since I played Evochron and recently 're' discovered this nice sim. However I noticed that I'm very spoiled of nowadays games and the textures and models of Evochron are not the best. Especially some ships, stations and moons are very ugly on close up. Are there any mods that replaces the texture/models of the entire game? I only found texture mods that focus on something like background or planets.

 There are some texture mods but not many. Not yet. Check the Customizing Kit for instructions on how to create some of your own.

If I was able to do it on my own I wouldn't ask ;) I'm lacking artists skills.

Texture Overhaul?

Post by Vyperhate »

I am currently working on a 4k texture overhaul and have released my asteroid textures. However many other textures that I am working on (such as planet surface textures) I am unable to get into the game at this time due to my lack of modding talents.

I'm not sure how to get textures into the game that are not supported by the customizing kit, or indeed if I even can get those textures into the game.

I'm more into graphics design than programming. :P

 Planet textures are hard-coded and defined in a compiled game file. Be that as it may, the upcoming extension pack has improved planet textures.

 There is a way ... but it would require modding the file used to define the Evochron galaxy. Ergo, you couldn't enter a default MP server after installing the mod.
