Ok, I noticed something that left me thinking this would be it. But since it failed and I only entered partially on Earth in debris-mode, I thought I should share:
I got the closest possible to the "death altitude" aka 507000 from the side where the earth station is. Saved and when I reload the game places me facing in another direction and shifts me 200 units to the right-side of the referential. I already noticed before that whenever I save and reload my position and orientation are changed upon reload, and it seems to be in relation to the referential.
So I thought that if I went to the other side and got to 507000 I would reload 200 units to the right, thus passing the death zone and being able to fly to Earth. Although my theory about being shifted and oriented in a default way like on the other side was correct (is it a bug or intended?), the ship always blows up. And in that save game I now can't even do anything as it blows up instantly after reloading at 506800 (I can't confirm the altitude though as it blows instantly, but for with what I said above it's probably around this altitude.
I thought this was interesting and "out of the box" thinking, but it ended up as... epic fail!
lol
I've got a few other thoughts to try out. If they all fail I will kidnap Vice.
lololol

Yeeeah..I think what made me regroup is the large crowds down on the planet, and the little one's looking up in the sky, and yelling... look Mom there's that Knight Rider again, he's about to put on another light show. Well..I tell you, I'm know one's entertainment..let them get their cheap light thrills from someone else...Good Luck capellamusic.

Thanks
, but no worries, it was just a save game apart from my "normal" game just to try that theory above which resulted in an epic fail, but I still find the theory interesting.

I have a good idea (potential bug/exploit) but my time online is limited these days and whenever I'm on no one seems interested in helping me. It's frustrating... I've been wanting to try it for months now.
Edit: So that's a really passive aggressive way of asking for help. I'll post here a couple of hours before I get on next time, maybe someone can join me.

I thought this was achievable alone. Is it needed more than a player to be able to get to Earth?

Oh ok, I want to do it more to find out how it is and to land on Earth than anything else. So, I'd do it offline and then try to do it again online after that to validate it. But I'm not having much luck and I'm running out of ideas...

Hi Marvin...For clarification, you have to have 2 independent pilots from the contest, who will vouch for the authenticity of the landing. From post: 115251, Topic: tid=7693, author=Marvin wrote:No ... as far as I know. One person can do it. But you need at least one other person to validate the event. I guess.
That would be pretty much doing it once, and then getting your witnesses to observe your landing for the authenticity portion, or having your witnesses present.
The catch all is convincing screen shots. After the 2 independent participants, you also have to present your screenshots to everyone else in the contest.
Unless someone from the contest objects, the winner will be announced. I'm giving that honor to Dingo since he's the biggest prize donor.
If we have an objection to the screenshots, then it would take 3 votes, myself, Dingo and a forum moderator (MMaggio comes to mind).
If the winner is overturned, then the reason for the invalidation will be announced, the decision will be final, and the contest will continue.
This addendum will be added to the official rules for further clarification.

You forgot to mention that the winner will be sworn to secrecy for the rest of his/her life and may only reveal the solution on his/her deathbed.
Any premature release of the solution will result in being banned from the game and being called all sorts of names!
Then you will be hunted down and terminated!
