NavMap - mouse issue?

Post by NFW »

Anyone know what I may have done or what the problem might be on the following issue?

On the nav map, when I right click it used to zoom in where the pointer is. Now I can only zoom in on the spot where my ship is.

when I right-click any part of the nav map it zooms in but I only see a blank sector....

Any idea's or anyone else had same problem?

I left click on the spot I want to zoom to so the marker is set then right click to go there.:) Even then I am off at time and have to redo it. Try, Try again lol.

NavMap - mouse issue?

 Sounds like you finally tried to "lock on " to a map icon that is either above or below you on the Y-axis. Check the other ten million posts for how to resolve the problem ... 'cause just about everybody, when first confronting Vice's 3-D universe, is perplexed by what Captain Kirk found so easy.

In the tutorial video around the 5:27 mark he is showing how to jump to another sector. After zooming out on the map to see other sectors around your current position he right clicks another sector to zoom in on that sector and then fine tune the marker position for jumping.

don't get me wrong... I am noob enough that I have jumped to a spot on the map and then been like "where is the station?" and realized it was 20k over my head:)

The part that was bugged for me. When right clicking on another sector it would just show up blank on the map... and the map would flicker too.

I don't think it had to do with Y axis... since it wouldn't matter if I right clicked a sector with a planet the map would just flicker and be blank.

If anyone else has this problem in the future, check your mouse settings and drivers. Seems to have fixed the problem for me.
Right clicking other sectors works as expected now.
Especially if your not using a MS-mouse, my pc needed a reboot to get the mouse drivers sorted out apparently.

(I exited game, rebooted computer and then got a bla bla drivers installed successfully windows message) and loaded the game up today and it works fine.

Why was this post moved to Rookie Pilots / Newbies section?

:o The flicker I don't know about. Right-clicking, as seen in the tutorial, probably happens along the current Y-axis ... which is why it works without adjusting your waypoint via the "Rear" view.

LOL yeah I've become very familiar with the rear view on the nav map... usually after jumping to what I think should be a station or gate and seeing nothing.... then being so far below or above it I actually have to jump again based on the rear view.

The issue with seeing a blank map has been resolved.

Not sure if it was the reboot or driver update but either way all is working as it should be now.
